Just got a new fitbit watch. I installed the app on my samsung galaxy note 8 phone running Android v.9 but trying to log in returns fitbit.com is unavailable. I can log into the website with no issues and the website does list my logins from my phone in the security section.
I have force quit the app and cleared cache on the app. Uninstalled. Rebooted the phone and reinstalled and the same problem occurs.
I've also tried different variations of clearing app storage, force quitting, clearing cache, etc.

I'd like you to try with your mobile data and Wi-Fi. Also please double check that your email address and password are properly entered.
