Cannot read text messages on Charge 5, can read all other notifications

I received a new charge 5 for Christmas. I previously had the charge 2. I set up my new device and sync it to my phone. I am receiving calendar notifications, app notifications, phone calls incoming, but absolutely no text body.. When I receive a new text message I only have notification that there is a new text and the option to either open the text or clear it. I cannot see who it is from or read the message I have been in contact with fitbit customer support via chat and phone multiple times.. I have followed  all instructions in the user manual, Googled it and YouTubeed it, to no avail.  I have a Samsung galaxy A50. Please help!!!  I am sure it is just a setting I have wrong but I'm ready to pull my hair out!!!!

hi @Bilgerat00 tapping the message once will open some of the message on the tracker. if a user needs to see more of the message, tap open to open the message on the phone

Me tooooo!!! Exact same story

It states...tap to open...so you tap it and it goes to an open or clear screen. No message, so you tape open, it opens the message ON YOUR PHONE and it goes to clock on your fitbit. No 250 characters appear like Fitbit states it will! Beyond frustrating!!!

Yes @Sophialynn that is what i stated above, tapping open is suppose to open the message on the phone.

Notice, that instead of yelling i made the text bold.

i dont think i've seen 250 but I usually see enough o get the jest of the message

Was not yelling, I was making a point. My point being, it OPENS IT ON MY PHONE NOT MY FITBIT! I AM TRYING TO SEE MY MESSAGES ON MY FITBIT. ME MAKING A POINT, NOT YELLING! CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT. SOME PEOPLE USE THEIR ALL CAPS SO THEY CAN READ IT WITHOUT THEIR READERS! I USE ALL CAPS TO MAKE A POINT. IF THATS YELLING, SORRY!!!

I received the charge 5 for Christmas and I am not having any problems receiving text messages on mine...even long ones. And when I click the open button on my watch it opens them on my watch not my phone

I finally figured it out!!!! You have to go into notification settings on your phone,  and change it from brief to detailed. I have a Samsung galaxy A50 and it was hard to find, but that is what finally did it! Everything is working now as promised/advertised!Sent from my Galaxy

Thank you!!! I will try that!!!

Hi. I tried it and it still didn't work. So, I have restarted my phone after uninstalling & installing the fitbit app again. I will let you know if that allows me to see upto 250 characters as advertised on my Charge 5.

This didnt work on mine,  ugh

I am having same issue.  It opens on my phone , not the charge

@Sophialynn  I had to disable all notifications in the Fitbit app, sync it go back in and turn everything back on to my liking

Hope this helps

@Pkstevenson That is the easiest way to refresh the Apps permissions.

We also want to make sre that notifications show up while the phones screen is locked

Did you get yours to work? I have a Galaxy S9 and I have the same, tap to open message and it goes back to the clock screen...

Hello everybody. Please excuse the delayed response.

@Rich_Laue Thanks for your help. @aFG79 Welcome in! Thanks for your personal experience. @Bilgerat00 Welcome to the forums. I am glad you figured it out. The notifications need have permission to be shown on the lock screen as well, so taht the content is shown on the Fitbit device too. Thanks for the advice.

@Sophialynn Welcome to the forums. I will gladly help you read text notifications on your device. Make sure these text are also allowed to be shown on your lock screen. Else the content will not be sent to the Fitbit device either. You find instructions on how to change notifications settings here: Control notifications on Android - click here. You can also try to deactivate notifications and set them up again.

@Pkstevenson Welcome to the forums. Thanks for sharing what worked for you. @Sierra218 Nice to have you here in the forums again. Please check the aforementioned settings and if it still does not work, try to deactivate notifications and set them up again.

Have a nice day!
