Fitbit Update: 11/6/17
Hey, everyone!
Super happy to hear that you can finally see who has cheered you in Challenges again. Thanks for confirming with the release of the Fitbit for Android app version 2.61 you can see the picture of who has cheered you. If you're an Android user still experiencing this issue, please make sure to update the app.
Now that this has been resolved, I am going to close this thread. If any of you come across this issue again in the future, please make sure to open a new topic for discussion. Thanks to all of you for being patient while this was worked out. I'll see you all around here on the Forums!
Fitbit Update: 10/03/17
Hey, all! Please allow me to clear up some confusion. The cheers not showing up in challenges is only affecting the Android app. This is why if some of you also own iOS devices, you're still able to see cheers inside Challenges. I apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing. Our team is going to work on a fix, but I don't know when that fix will be released. I'll continue to post any updates here. Thanks so much for your patience!
Fitbit Update: 09/14/17
Hey, folks! Thanks for your patience while our team works on a fix. The recent Fitbit app update for Android did not contain a fix for this Challenges issue. Rest assured, once a fix has been identified and released I will make sure to announce it here in this thread.
Fitbit Update: 08/29/17
Thanks for catching this, everyone! I tested this on an Android device, with the Fitbit app version 2.56 and noticed the same result. I have escalated this to our team for review. I will provide an update once I have new information.

I tend to agree....if this were an Apple issue, it would have higher priority...

Instead of saying your working on it. Post a progress report. It feels like you don't care. If this is the manner then what if a major issue were handled this way. I noticed last night Ionic commercial last night. That made me more upset and frustrated with Fitbit.
Why not deactivate the feature all together? Having it there to constantly remind us of what was and not get any feedback other than were working on it feels like its b.s. just to sub due us.
I don't think its working either.

Worst thing is they aren't even working on it, as Alless told us in her last post she will inform us "when a fix is in the works".
They removed my post about downgrading to version 2.55, which is still showing the icons when cheered, because it seems linking to APK-files is not allowed. But you can search yourself on apkmirror. I've installed it two weeks ago and is working fine. Don't forget to uncheck automatic updates for the fitbit app in Google Play.

Someone said on this thread that Fitbit techs are more responsive to Apple user issues. There is a post on IOS app from 10/19/17 re crash issues for IOS 11 . Same message re they will post here when the situation is being worked on- let’s see which issue is resolved first. Granted maybe this issue is not priority over app totally crashing, since we still have use of the app at least. People are voicing the same opinion though, that they are going to hold off on doing any updates in the future because every time it causes some inadvertent headache.

I just checked. I'm up to Version 2.60.1. Still seeing Ghosts in the Challenges.
Still depressed about it. Still frustrated. Getting more negative all the time.
Also not feeling very friendly right now to see no reply to my inquiry to @AlessFitbit on the 19th (Message 84).
Thank you for the info on IOS 11, @MzP! My Apple FitFriend doesn't really comment on his problems with FitBit. Thank you also for keeping count. I'm so depressed about it that I've even stopped checking my Version every 10 Days.

Mine just stared today as the fitbit tried to update and then crashed, once I uninstalled and installed all of the people that I use to see in challenges were missing. I noticed that the reply to the response was on 10/3 but it is now the end of October and this has just happened so is there another glitch?

What did you guys do...uggh. i have since unchecked auto update because your latest update has made all of the cheer images disappear. I guess since iOS is the primary concern the Android people have to wait. This happens whenever there is an update this is so aggravating. I wish I could downgrade back. Fix this quickly!!!! #aggravateduser

Send an email to https://contact.fitbit.com
take a screen shot of your problem, even if it’s a screen shot of a blank screen
let them know what email you use for your Fitbit profile.

I believe this "bug" maybe fix for the slow system response to cheers in challenges for Android users, that we all suffered with for quite some time. The largest Fitbit app platform is Android, the largest component of the cheer data is the image. Drop the image on Android and a huge portion of bandwidth and storage is gained by Fitbit. I don't plan on getting "cheer" images back. I doubt they will even send name information instead. The capacity of the total system will not provide for this challenge information flexibility well now. Maybe we should be asking for a character emoji picked like playing pieces in board games, like monopoly, so that there is less load to identify those cheering.

Good point @CityLion , it’s possible Fitbit is trying to keep running with the limited bandwith/storage capacity they have (notice how quickly they got rid of the 20 max participants per challenge back to 10) and just started dropping stuff here and there to keep the ship afloat. In essence this so called “bug” may actually be a method of Fitbit solving their own operational problems to avoid a total crash. I agree that somehow Fitbit has to provide a manner of showing each individual cheering instead of a generic “cheered”, since it is their concept after all that people friend other users in order to cheer each other on.

The pictures were too small to easily make out who cheered, name would be better, if it took up less bandwidth.
