Charge 3 with Android 8.0 GPS issues

Hi

My wife is having issues with GPS tracking with her Charge 3 on a Samsung Galaxy running Android 8.0 (Oreo).  Watch syncs fine with the app but will only track with the GPS if the FitBit app is open and on the screen as soon as you put phone in standby the watch buzzes and says lost connection with GPS.

Location services are on, battery optimisation is disabled for FitBit app and it makes no difference if the app is locked in app draw.  Within the phone settings there is no background restrictions/limits setting and the phone states the app has 0min Background running.

Any advice on how to get her charge 3 tracking on runs and bike rides will be greatly received?  Thanks Olly

I will gladly assist you with this. This is odd as it does sound as if the app is being prevented from running in the background by your phone. Normally it should run in the background so it can manage notifications and syncs. Have you contacted Samsung Support to see if they have any instructions to prevent this phone from closing an app? Once the app is able to run in the background your wife should be able to record GPS activities.

Thanks, no not contacted Samsung yet.

However she receives notifications etc with no problems when phone is in standby and app not open...
