Constant notifications from Android Messages for web

Since Android Messages for web was released, every time my phone is connected, the message  app keeps sending notifications "Connected to Messages for web" to my fitbit charge 2 (like once every 5 to 20 minutes depending on my use of the app).

Although it does come from the same app as the message, it's a different kind of notification and as no use at all for me. Is there a way to selectively ignore it? If not it should

Within the Android messages app, click on the 3 dot menu icon, then on Messages for web. Then click on the 3 dot menu icon again, then on Notifications. Turn off the "Show persistent notification" option.
