Contacts aren't showing up

I can't get my contacts to show up so that I can invite them to be friends. I am getting frustrated....

Hey @Beaners4! It's lovely to have you in the Community. Well, that's a little odd. Just out of curiosity, have you noticed this on your app and on your web Dashboard as well? Please let me know. Yes...the only contacts that show up are ones that have emails in my contact list. Is this normal?

How are you trying to connect with your friends on Fitbit? What contact list are you talking about? Sorry to answer with more questions but I'd like to have a better picture of the situation. i cannot get my contacts on my fitbit app.

the friends i have on my contacts list on my phone that i text on a reguilar basis, that have fitbits, they arent showing up on my contacts list on the fitbuit app. when i go online they arent there either, just a facebook option with like 5 people or an email option. what gives? ive called and the guy told me to sign out and back in, which did not fix the problem and also made me quit my challanges 😞

I will do my best to help you resolve this issue as fitbitting with friends is way more fun than to do it all by yourself. Cat LOL In this case, I'd recommend checking once again from your Web Dashboard and if you're still not showing any friends there, then I suggest clearing cookies and cache and then check again. Also, I'd like to see what you're seeing to have a better picture of the situation, would you mind posting me with some screenshots from your Fitbit app and your Web Dashboard exposing the issue? I'm having the same problem. I recently got a new iphone (iphone 6). I downloaded the fitbit app. I went to "friends" and then "find friends" and selected CONTACTS.

 

However it is only showing me the contacts with email addresses so now it is saying that none of the contacts in my phone have the fitbit app, but this isn't true!

 

On my old phone (iphone 5S) I was able to select CONTACTS and it would show me the 10-15 people in my full contacts list that had the fitbit app. It used to show contacts by email AND phone number. Right now it is only showing contacts with an email address. How can this be fixed?

@radz welcome to the forums! That's indeed weird. I see that you have posted this a while ago and I'd like to know if this issues has been resolved by now.

 

If it hasn't already, have you checked that your Fitbit app has been updated to its latest version? Not having the app updated can sometimes cause discrepancies. Also, have you checked if this is also happening in the Web Dashboard? Do let me know!

I have the latest app. I don't understand how i used to see contacts w fitbit on my old phone and not on this phone..

Ive tried toggling my privacy settings as well

Mariam, I can't explain it any better than the previous posts. The only contacts that show under friends is ones that I have an email to in my phone. As far as the web page, there are no contacts shown. It just askes you to connect with friends via email or facebook. The issue is we want all our phone contacts to show in the friends list on our smart phone, not just the ones with emails put into the contact. I hope this is clear

@redphys when did you notice your contacts disappeared? Have you checked that you're not using any other email address (perhaps a typo)? This is a pretty weird scenario. Smiley Frustrated Try logging out and then logging back again, clear cookies and cache and then log back in. Check if your contacts are there and let me know about the outcome!

@redphys sorry for the confusion here. @Beaners4 the best course of action would be to contact our Support Team for further research. As much as I'd like to assist you, I don't have the tools our Support Team have in order to take a deeper look into this situation. Also, remember to let them know about the troubleshooting steps you've taken so far to fix this. By doing that you'll be helping them to provide with a quick follow up!

Thanks a lot @MariamV and everyone in this thread for the information you've provided. 

 

What everyone is experiencing is expected. The Fitbit app will only look for friends with saved email addresses in their contacts. The Fitbit app does not search friends and contacts by phone number. If this is a feature you'd like to see, join the conversation on the Feature Suggestions board

Same issue however I have a contact WITH an email address that is not showing. It's a valid address @@att.net
