Just to add one my (likely unheard) voice here. This is a problem for me. When I cycle everywhere I rarely meet my step goals and it would be good to have the km reflected on the dashboard....!!!

I am having the same issue with my charge 4. I have done biking of 8 km today and my dashboard data says only 3.48 km in the whole day. Can you look into this and solve it, please?

Same issue here and reading through the history it's amazing how poorly interpreted by fitbit the very clearly expressed problem statement has been. Although I think they got there eventually.
So I get the identical issue. I have multiple activities tracked, primarily walking and cycling. All show up in the activity logs, everything correct with GPS distances. But the daily totals on the dashboard do not include my cycling distances, which is very irritating and makes the dashboard distance chart feature useless to me. My Versa 2 is already of very limited use to me due to extremely poor HR tracking which renders calorie count meaningless too. I'm not alone, there are many. I suspect there are a fantastically larger number suffering these issues but the device tends towards the mass consumer end of the market and many people do not have the means to see whether it is accurate or not. Fitbit get away with it.
Now in the market for a fitness device which is fit-for-purpose.
@Fitbit-support, can you:
a) confirm if this is a fault or intended behaviour
b) if intended behaviour, what is the rationale of leaving out a significant chunk of distance per day?
c) if a fault, what can or is being done?

You've misunderstood the problem.

That makes no sense. I want to see total of ALL distances exercised during a day on the dashboard. Why would I only want a subset?
This is either extremely poor design or a fault.
If fitbit believe the consumer wants to just see a subset of all distances totally up then they should at least make it configurable on a per user basis. It's just common sense. People want the whole total distance done in a day to be seen.

You have not properly understood the issue or you're choosing to ignore it.

@SunsetRunner @YojanaFitbit It's now 2021 - some years later - and as far as I can tell nothing has changed. Laughs. Fitbit don't seem very good at communication. Google bought fitbit, presumably for all that lovely data we all give them for free. I wonder if they will improve things.

Not sure if this will answer the bike distance compared to the days step distance.
Since Biking is not a step based activity, the distance a user bikes will not be added to the daily step distance displayed on the main dashboard. This change was made at the request of the fitbit users.
So you may blame your fellow fitbit users for this change.
Now that bike distance has been removed, we have a set of users who are unhappy.
Sorry @EddieB1 the OP was not very specific by what was meant by dashboard. It wasn't explained until their 6th post.
We also have a request to remove the false steps durring a bike ride, and a request to convert all bike distance into steps and add this to the daily step totals.
For the competitions, it I'd felt to be best to only have step based activities added.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply Rich. That helps understanding.
So while a distance based solely on step count may be useful for many, there are others who want to total everything.
There seems to be a requirement to either have additional charts, or configurable switches on what the chart displays
I understand the difficulty in pleasing everyone; but presumably some kind of configurability could get around some of this.
In other stories, some good news. I've been bemoaning my fitbit versa 2's poor HR tracking for quite some time now. I took a firmware update a few days ago and it seems to be performing much better. May be a coincidence but nice to think it's not! It's comparing far better to my strap laden polar than it ever has.

It's now 5/14/22 and it appears the issue has still not been resolved. I have the same issue that you all logged a couple years ago and others. My App dashboard shows 0.47 miles which does not include the 23.68 bike miles that show correctly on the bike activity/exercise. This also impacts some of the premium features like Fit Bingo.
