Hi there @MsTG, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community. definitely I can understand you, it happens to me all the time.
If you don't have your Fitbit tracker at hand, you can still participate in a challenge if has the option of MobileTrack on your Fitbit app and choose MobileTrack during setup. This feature uses your mobile device to track basic stats like steps and estimated calories burned. Note the MobileTrack option is supported only in selected devices.
Review in our list of compatible devices if your phone is capable to run this feature by visiting: http://www.fitbit.com/devices.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have additional questions.
