I'm using a pixelwatch 2 and a Motorola phone running Android 11. Within the Fitbit app, the ECG download on my phone has been working fine until a week or so ago. Now it just spins and the download never completes. Looking at older posts with the same trouble, I've repeatedly attempted to clear the cache, uninstall the app, reboot my phone, reinstall the app, with no success. The trouble may have started with Fitbit version:

I have two Chromebooks running the same ChromeOS version and the same Fitbit version but an older version than the one on my phone, and ECG download works fine on both:
... and Fitbit version:
For now I'm holding off updating the Fitbit app on my chromebooks for fear that ECG download will break there as well.
If there's a remedy for my phone troubles please share. I have a feeling that in the 4.26.1... update, something got screwed up in the validation of permissions for file access and the download is not proceeding because of that (the update broke compatability with Android 11). My wife has a pixel7 running Android 13. I can test the download there using the same Fitbit app version. When I do this, I'll add that result.

Best AnswerHello @motrguy
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you're seeing with the ECG download with Fitbit app, version 4.26.1.
I saw a Moderator post from yesterday (02 Oct 2024) stating that an app update will be rolling out in the next few days. Please keep checking the Play Store for the update and install it on your phone when it's available.
I'll check back after the app update rollout is confirmed to see if the update fixed your ECG download issue.

Best AnswerI'm now running the following version on my phone (Android 11) and my two Chromebooks, both of which are actibvely receiving ChromeOS updates:
No change in behaviour. Downloads still don't work (hang) on my phone but work fine on my Chromebooks. Seems to still be perhaps an Android 11 compatability issue (is one theory).
Best AnswerHello @motrguy
Thanks for the update. It's disappointing to see that the app update to version 4.27 didn't resolve the ECG pdf dowload problem on your phone. It does seem like there might be an issue with your phone on Android 11, although the Fitbit app is supposed to work with Android 10 and up.
For now, I agree about not updating your Chromebooks to the current Fitbit app version, so that you still have a way to get your ECG pdfs.
I'm going to see if I can get any information about this and will report back.

Best AnswerHi -
A clarification - for my Chrombooks where the ECG download is working fine, I have updated both of them with the latest Fitbit version and the ECG download continues to work fine (I'm running latest ChromeOS + latest Fitbit revision). My current theory remains that starting at Fitbit 4.26 something changed that broke the ECG download for Android 11.
Hello @motrguy
Thank you for the clarification. I'm glad to see that updating the Fitbit app on your Chromebooks still lets you download your ECG pdfs.
I think you're on the right track that something in version 4.26 broke the ECG download for Android 11.

ECG download not working in Motorola Phone. Device is Sense 2. It was working fine till 15 th August 2024. after that I tried in Oct 2024 and found that ECG download not working. It is spinning but no download
Best AnswerI have the same problem with a Fitbit sense and Motorola G50. Tha app appears not to have permission to write to the file system.
It used to work.. Can we have instructions for reverting back to a working version please Google - this is unacceptable.
I have the same problem and concurr that it is to do with Android 11. It seems to be due to the file storage permission being media only and not all files which it needs to be to allow the download. My workaround is to download the files / reports on Fire tablet which works fine.
I see the app was updated recently to:
ECG download still not working on my Android 11 Motorola phone.
Best AnswerIndeed a very frustrating situation. Using an alternate device that works is a workable solution if one has an alternate device to use (as is the case with me). It's certainly less convenient however. Time will tell if it ever gets fixed.
Best AnswerSame issues on my Pixel 3a and Pixel 2 watch.
Literally the whole reason I bought the watch.
Ver 4.30 - Unable to download old versions due to using a locked down work phone.
