I always use the exercise part of app to track my distance and see where I actually walked. Since the app update, there is no longer a GPS map of the exercise. Does anyone know where it has been moved to or why it was removed from this new app update?

Now, the map doesn't appear anymore in the preview on the main screen. Tap "Exercise days", you'll see the list of exercises. Those with GPS will have it annotated. Tap the exercise and then you'll see the map.

@Zielinam22 Welcome to the forums. Thanks for reaching out about the training details on the Fitbit App. @Triletics Correct, the map is no longer shown on the preview on the main screen. Thanks for showing others how to access this information.
However, the map showing the exercise route might not show some details at the moment. This has been raised to the team in charge of the app and Fitbit will keep on reviewing the situation. I really appreciate your patience regarding this matter. Thanks again!

Thanks for the responses. I did go to exercise days page, but none of my logged exercise has a map associated. I'm not sure 8f there is a setting I'm missing? I haven't changed anything since the update, and it was previously logging maps for all my exercise. Is this a glitch in the app update?

@Zielinam22 you have not missed anything. For some reason the map shown in the app is blank. I suppose it is a bug. You still have the detailed map if you go to Fitbit Dashboard in a browser.

Thanks! For some reason when I go to my exercise settings, both walk and run says GPS will not be turned on. I don't see where to change this. Anyone know about this setting?

I have the same problem, walk and run both say GPS will not be turned on. Was working great before the "update". I have an Inspire 2. Let me guess, Google wants to sell me a new watch.

SOmetimes updates resets (or f*** up) some settings. Follow these steps to setup GPS on your device.

I do the same. And the "map" appeared today after my workout was complete. It is horrid, just a mass of ugly colours, no discrrning points of reference.
Also it seems that we MUST move the account to google to get access to change some settings. Its a hard NO for me, will be purchasing another brand tracker next week.

I don't see anything about GPS in the new exercise settings. See below.

@stephencraig what tracker do you have? Most of the latest trackers have this setting on the watch.
- Don't use the quick start exercise.
- Tap the wanted exercise. Don't tap start
- Scroll up and you will see settings for
- Gps
- Possibly more.
The screen shot above is your settings for auto exercise detect.
For older models, in the app, tap settings, then tap your watch. Your exercise settings will be found there.
You will see a phone icon on the tracker when gps is active

There is a map but it's substantially less detailed than it used to be. All the street information the names are missing.

@Rich_LaueI appreciate your response. I am using a Charge 5 device and did not change any device settings from before to after transitioning to Google and the new interface.
I was not aware of my specific device settings but in the GPS settings menu, the settings is "dynamic" (see photo below, note that the option included a warning of high battery use so I presume "Dynamic" is the appropriate setting) and within the "Bike" exercise the "GPS" setting is "On" (a bit hard to see but I wanted to keep the "Settings" header on the screen.
But, I've not generally manually started the exercise. I've just gone for a bike ride, got home, and looked at the map and details. Do you know if that will no longer be the case and in the future to see the same content I will need to manually start rides?
Thanks again for pointing me to those device settings screens.

FYI - I like to compare stats when I repeat trails that I do frequently. The map preview allowed me to find an earlier hike to compare. Now I have to either track hikes on a separate calendar or hunt through dates to find the matching map. I doubt that I am the only person who does this and would like a toggle map preview feature. Thanks

@OCCA there is a better way that doesn't involve Fitbit. Use Strava (sync Fitbit to Strava). Strava recognizes whenever you follow the same route. This way you can find quickly the activity you want or just use Strava to compare. Here's example of my local Parkrun:
And if I click "View (...) Matched Runs":
Very useful feature as it also tells you trends on particular course. It will work with cycling and hiking, too. Using Fitbit to search your activity and compare is a torture (regardless which version of Fitbit app you use, no version was designed for that).
