This might seem silly but I'm new to fitbit, I recently got the fitbit charge and I'm just wondering how I track exercise with it. Do I have to enter my exercise into the fitbit app or does it track exercise on my charge?

If your exercise is just walking or running (or something that's mainly steps) then your Charge will track it quite happily. For activities that are not step based e.g. cycling, rowing, weights... then it's best to manually log them using this procedure:
