As long as I've been using Fitbit, the app has always been pretty bad. I used to have it on my phone and a while back I deleted it and installed it on my iPad. Now that I have an Ionic, I want the app on my phone so I can get notifications. For me, though, it's been a disaster.
The problem that I'm having is when I start it, half the time or more, I get nothing but a white screen. When I do eventually get the app to open, if I try to go look at a specific device, the list of devices (One, Surge, and Ionic) will show no devices, with my only option being to add a new device. And even when I do get to the Ionic eventually, it often just won't sync.
I have no idea what else I can do. I have a Note 8. I used to have a Samsung Gear 2, but I've since uninstalled all of the Gear software and shut the Gear off to attempt to troubleshoot this issue. Doing that was a complete waste of my time. I have the latest Fitbit app installed on my phone. I've tried uninstalling and installing it a bunch of times, but it has done no good.
I've stuck with Fitbit because I have been collecting statistics on it since the first tracker came out. More and more, I'm starting to regret that and am starting to think that it might be time to just move on to something else. I am thoroughly tired of barely functioning software that is more of a headache than anything else.
Before I give up, though, just wondering if anyone's run into this problem and if there is any way to fix it. I really want to like the Ionic, but with all of these issues, I am finding it a difficult thing to do.

Hi there @ScottKilbo, thank you for visiting us again in the Fitbti Community! I can understand your frustration and I found this behavior very odd since I have never seen something similar like the one you are describing. I appreciate all your patience and all the time you have invested to find a solution.
I had a similar behavior, not as difficult as yours but the way I solved was following these steps. If you haven't tried them, please do the following:
Log out from your Fitbit app and go to your mobile device settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your Note 8 has initialized, go back to your app and try one more time.
If the issue persists, would you mind to share a screenshot with me? To learn more about how to upload screenshots please take a look to this post.
See you later and keep me posted how it goes.

I have tried this workaround a bunch of times, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the app (pain in the a$$ doing that). I care less about workarounds and more about fixing this. I can understand having to do a workaround once, but this is a frequent problem, along with nothing syncing and not getting notifications on my watch. I really love the ionic, but this software is a terrible mess. Anyway, I've attached the requested images. One shows the white screen that I frequently get. The other one shows that the app seems to think that I have no devices, even though I have a One, a Surge, and an Ionic.
I also have an iPad. As a test, I deleted the app from my Note 8 and installed the iPhone app on the iPad. It ALWAYS syncs quickly and I've never once had a white screen or a list missing devices on it. That app is a hell of a lot better than the Android app. After testing this, I deleted the app from my iPad and reinstalled it (again!) on my phone. If I didn't want notifications on my Ionic, I'd just leave the iPad app alone and remove it from the phone. Of course with the number of notifications that I DON'T get, that might still be worth doing.

I purchased the fitbit ionic and paired it with my samsung galaxy 8 but I have never received any notifications from my phone. It keep saying nothing new here all caught up. I have tried everything even factory reset several times. Very disappointed especially after all the hype from commercials. What can I do to get this fixed?

Good luck. Fitbit has stopped replying to this post. You might be better off starting your own post.

Hi there @ScottKilbo and thank you for joining to this thread @Cc1959. My apologies for not posting any update recently after my last interaction. Rest assure I'm still giving follow up to your concerns.
@ScottKilbo thank you for the screenshots and you are right, a workaround should not be something to try frequently, although the issue you are experiencing is not common. Since yesterday we started rolling out a new version of the Fitbit app that contain a few bug fixes and improvement in its stability. If is already available in your Google Play store, please proceed to install this version and give it another try.
Now @Cc1959, I saw you are not receiving app notifications on your Ionic. In this case you mentioned about trying different solutions to address this issue. So as a matter of review I would like to recommend to try the following:
Keep me posted how it goes. I'll be here.
