Fitbit app is killing my battery on my Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.

Okay so hopefully Fitbit support monitors this forum.

I have a Fitbit Ionic and a Galaxy S8 Plus.  Then the fitbit app is on my device may battery may last half a day if I am lucky.  Once I uninstall the App I get more than a day out of my battery.  I have even factory reset my phone and I get the same results.  My Galaxy is running Android 8.0.0 Build number R16NW.G955W_8.0.0_0002 but it had the problem before my last Android Update.

I have turned off "All Day Sync" and have even logged out but I still get the same results.  Let me know how to fix this or update the software.  It is really handy on my phone as that is with me everywhere.

Hi there @dhordyk, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community. I was reading your Fitbit app is draining the battery of your phone. I wanted to step in since this is an odd behavior. I have the same phone you have  with all the updates and my battery last the entire day, even with the All-day sync enabled of the Fitbit app.

I appreciate you have let me know the steps you have tried to address this issue. The Galaxy S8+ has an option in the Phone Settings, under Device Maintenance that might help to improve the battery life.

Here you can see the battery consumption of each app and optimized the usage. If you haven't use this option, please give it a try, as this will put to sleep all the apps that are consuming to much energy. In my case the Fitbit app reports between 0% to 5% of battery usage while is running in the background.

If the issue continue try to reset the app:

log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. (This may vary depending of the Android device and the OS version)

Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone has initialized, go back to your app and try again.

See you around and hope this helps.

I have the same issue only started in the last week though, I keep getting device maintenence warning for the fitbit app which you sound like your not. But battery life has shorten a lot.

I think it would be best to start a new thread.  Something went sideways with the android app starting a few days ago.   THere was a thread here in the Android forum, but for some reason the moderator moved it to the ionic forum.
