Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the Google App play store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/23

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

I like this one. Thanks for sharing. It must have been around during my Microsoft Band or Garmin days. I came home to Fitbit about two years ago. Hey, Fitbit, can we have this one back?

@AlessFitbit If I try to log a ticket through the Fitbit app it only gives me the option to access Support through Twitter.

Fitbit app on Android, go to Help, then get this screen:

So yeah the only way I can log a ticket without having to call (I work full time) is through Twitter apparently. Ridiculous.

Also why haven't you addressed any of the other issues raised by others and myself?

As of yesterday, my "new and improved" *sarc* app has stopped syncing completely, so the new UI not only shows LESS info than before in a significantly more inconvenient and uninspiring format, but now the whole app functionality is also 100% useless.

You have 1 job. 1 job. Please fix this debacle, this is a horrendous customer experience.

Best Answer

@RicardoFitbit Could you please enumerate, in detail, what you mean by "lots of improvements" with the new dashboard? Once I click on the uninspired, dull icons (after having to scroll down to the one I want) I get the same info I got with the old dashboard. The only positive difference I've noted is that it now shows percentage of battery left rather than just full, medium, or low. Seems like that could have been upgraded without trashing the role dashboard that most were quite happy with. The new one is ugly and less user friendly as many on this thread have already noted. Your customers are clearly not happy.

Same, I just woke up one day and it was changed, nothing I could do to change it back to the old one either. My partner however has just been given the choice to opt in.. New version is crap. Slow to synchronize, doesn’t display my sleep properly anymore, as in refuses to show REM etc & I have a Fitbit with HR & sometimes I’ve turned the alarm off after waking up and refreshed the app, yet the alarm keeps going off. Tempted to be done with Fitbit if they don’t put things back to the way they were. Sometimes you shouldn’t fix things that aren’t broke.

@BlueWolf7 depending on the time of the day in the support center, you will see Twitter, Email, online live support, and/or a phone number.

If no one is around to answer then the option will not be availible.

The new dashboard has very poor performance.  It doesn't sync reliably or accurately.  It doesn't show the same data in the dashboard, on the drill down, and on my device. I tried uninstall/ reinstall but that only made the performance worse. I prefer the UI in the old version and it was much easier to use and customize.

I Installed 3.0 yesterday and let me say:

BOY! The connectivity while doing GPS exercises is on par with 2.74.2!!

Well done!

I'll keep you posted

PS: I downloaded the installation file and installed it manually from a well known website...

Unfortunately the website says it can take up to 2 weeks for everyone to get the update. In the meantime, I can't even use my Charge 3 as a watch because the time is about 50 minutes slow. Very disappointing.

@Rich_Laue I live in Australia.  So based on what you said I don't have the means to log a support ticket because I'm not based in the northern hemisphere or the USA - when non-Twitter support is available I'm sleeping cause  *flash news* it's night time downunder.  Again, this is just stellar customer service...  Fitbit clearly has a firm grasp on the customer journey and retention strategy...

Abject fail.

Whats the hold up with releasing it to all Androids? I have the Galaxy S9+ and my daughter has a Galaxy J7 Refine and hers is updated to the new dashboard but mine has not yet...that doesnt make any sense. I tried to talk to a live chat representative because i have been having issues with battery life and my heart rate monitor not working and was told that i needed to update everything for the issues to be "fixed". How can I update when I dont have the option to update? The app on my phone is as updated as the playstore will allow and I've checked the firmware several times and everything is as updated as it can be. So i'm confused as to how to fix the problem when the only solution is to update something that I cant update....

Best Answer

It said they didn't want to release it all at once in case their are issues. Makes no sense considering we're all having issues now. I can't even use mine as a watch as the time falls further & further behind. It's now 90min slow. You would think Fitbit would care enough about its customers to put out a detailed press release to explain the problems and the plan to fix it instead of sugar coating it.

@BlueWolf7 we have support teams around the world and when a user goes to the contact Fitbit. The page populates with contact info based on the users registered location.

The time of the day may be a hassle but the online chat should be availible to all

No @Maryejj we are not all having issues. Now it is up to the developers to figure out why some are having issues while others are not.

A few years ago we had one issue that only occured she a specific app unrelated to Fitbit was installed.

@lynnspence the new UI is being rolled out. You are correct in that not everyone will receive it at the same time.

I'm using version 2.63 I believe..... yes it's an old app but it's as stable as a brick, works perfectly every time all the time, doesn't use any data to speak of, doesn't drain my phones battery, and syncs flawlessly under all conditions.

It's made owning my fitbits over the last couple years an absolute pleasure. If I updated every time a new app version came out like fitbit wants me to I would have stopped using fitbit devices years ago.

People if your app is working good for you don't update it unless you like lots of frustration and stress/hair loss/high blood pressure etc..... basically all the things our fitbits are supposed to help stop 😮

And for goodness sakes turn off auto update in your Google play store settings =-O 😮 :-[

@PollyDoodles On the main "today" tab of the dashboard, select your profile image at the top left of the screen, then select your fitbit. You will then be on the device settings where you'll find the alarms

I have the Google Pixel 2 XL - a bit old as Google phones go, but works fine and not paid for quite yet, so it will do. I am running Fitbit app version 3.0 - the latest offered by the Play Store. I received an e-mail promising the new dashboard over a month ago (my e-mail deletes anything in Trash if it's older than 30 days so the message is gone). So, is it still being rolled out or not? I have no other issues with my Ionic - it's working great, so I am reluctant to pester the chat room people.
