Fitbit app on Android 10 devices

Hi all,

After months of perseverance, I finally enjoy fairly reliable (manual) sync between my Moto X Play and Fitbit Versa without the Fitbit app chewing through the battery.

In the meantime, technology has marched on with Android 10 on the horizon and me delaying buying a new phone for too long.

Rightly or wrongly, I am of the impression from reading here, that the android fitbit app team are in trouble, with the app still struggling to sync properly under Android Pie , let alone the imminent Android 10, and the new UI causing problems as well.

Have put off getting a new phone for too long and enough is enough.

- How prevalent are the issues with Android Pie?

- Are the app team ready with Android10 version that is fully compliant and optimised?

- Is it time to ditch the Fitbit platform?

Hi @Digit01, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums, welcome back. Sorry for the delay in responding your post.

I'm happy to know that you're able to sync your Fitbit Versa with your Motorola Moto X  Play with no difficulties even though such mobile device is not compatible. Please take in consideration that we are always striving to improve the Fitbit experience with our products and services, and as any other technological product company, we are always testing new Android and iOS versions to make sure that our Fitbit devices work as the way they were designed.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be around.

Hi RicardoFitbit,

Thankyou for the pleasant reply that completely ignores the questions posed.

I  note that your perception of the word '...after months of perseverance' is ' .... no trouble at all.'. This is a little insulting, given the numerous hours spent with previous failed installs, uninstalling, testing and cache wiping every time an app update is released. I am sure this was no your intention. Rather ironically, the current way to get the app to communicate seems to be to delete the versa pairing!

I appreciate the link to the, now very limited and outdated, 'compatibility list on which I am sure,I once saw the Moto X, albeit briefly. Disappointing that Fitbit software team had so much trouble with a 'stock android' product from such a large US manufacturer!

So, in the interests of clarity, I will repose my questions:

- How prevalent are the issues with Android Pie?

- Are the app team ready with Android10 version that is fully compliant and optimised?

I will also add "Is the fitbit app and Versa fully compliant and optimised for current Moto G7 series of phones with Android 9 Pie, and with any forthcoming update to Android 10?"

(PS I have changed the topic back to reflect the subject of the questions posed.)

Regards

Jesus this is one of the most brutal responses I ever saw in my life. It sums up all the frustration we have been going trough since the android 10 release. 6 months later and fitbit team are unable to come up with a solution.

I assume you stopped using Fitbit, since no one got back to you.

I got the versa 3 yesterday. I'm quite annoyed since I've been trying to get in touch with an agent on the chat platform, but I can't get through. And now I see they don't get back to you here...

My app is not compatible with the versa 3. So I can't use it with my Huawei P20. I have the Android 10 system updated but it looks like my phone cannot get the latest updated version of the app.

So now I have a versa 3 I can't use unless I buy a new phone.
