@SQGrlzMom welcome to the Fitbit Community! I was reviewing the list of supported devices and the Galaxy Note 5 is compatible so I would suggest to make sure notifications are set up as instructed on this video:
If you did and you are not receiving your notifications please troubleshoot as instructed here.
