My fitbit app stopped working today. After several attempts, removed the app.

Went to play store and the fitbit app says it's unavailable for my phone!

What is happening?! I need this app to track my heart rate while sleeping.

Please help!:!

Hey there, @DebbyLee. Thanks for the imput @Odyssey13 😀

@DebbyLee If you don't see the Fitbit app available on the Play Store, your phone could be missing one of the requirements to be compatible with the app. So please check if your phone is running Android 8 or later by going to your phone settings, and if there is a pending update, install it and try to download the Fitbit app again.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Your feedback is appreciated as it'll help us to improve our Fitbit app and its features.

Hi @DebbyLee  Android 8 is the minimum that will work with Fitbit. When we remove the app, we can't reinstall it because that version of the app is no longer available on the Play Store. Your phone have Android 8 or higher?

It says Android 6 version. Shows no updates. I am assuming that it is up to date.

I also found ParticipACTION app that is supposed to be compatible. But fitbit site is banning my IP address at this time. It says to try again, that it is a possible glitch with the security cloud they use. Which is probably all it was with the original app... shouldn't have uninstalled it.

@DebbyLee  I have an Android 5 tablet and an Android 6 and can't download the app. You have any other way to sync your data?

I'm sorry but this isn't the case for me.  I had the app on my phone working fine this morning.  Due to a phone issue, I had to delete the app and reinstall.  My android is a 7.0 and I've had this app on my phone for several months.  Now, all of the sudden I am unable to download it?

Hi @gso3006  correct. Once you removed the app and you don't have the minimum Android 8, you can't download it. The app is no longer available at the Play Store for devices running less of a system than 8. Sorry. Is there another way you have to set up and sync? Maybe a tablet, computer or a family member or friend?

I think this is a disgusting act on fitbits part that there was no advance warning of this action. Especially when so many answers to problems say "reinstall the app".

Apart from the slap in the face to many users who, especially in the current uncertain times, cannot update their phones or other devices, it doesn't do anything for your "Green" credibility.

These people were doing their bit for sustainability by not buying new toys every five minutes and you expect them now to spend hard earned cash on a device they neither wanted or needed until you randomly removed your service from them.

Perhaps you should have a big warning on your packaging saying that service may be withdrawn at any time.

Don't thank me for my understanding, because you don't have it.

Thank you @Odyssey13 Just because you have the right to do something doesn't necessarily mean that it is the right thing to do.

However this attitude has ensured that when my current device gives up. It will not be replaced.
