Fitbit isnt recording accurately

My fitbit counted a drive I took as steps and through off my day. I'm thinking it's because of the GPS so should I be keeping the GPS off my phone at all times? Also, I didn't put it on today until 2 in the afternoon and it said I took 99 steps. How would it count steps of it wasn't on?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Edesgros Woman Very Happy! Well, our engineers have worked diligently on your tracker's algorithms to make sure that it does not pick up false steps or activity recordings while in a car. Unless you are driving in a car with a stiff transmission or on back country roads, your tracker should not give you credit for any work that you don't do.
