Getting "Device not Found" Error Message

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just yesterday my phone stopped syncing with the Fitbit.  I tried logging out if my account and logging back in.  I can see the steps taken on my device (Alta) but not on my phone.  It is a new replacement phone.  I downloaded the Fitbit app and everything worked for a day.  Now I get the message 'no device found'.    ??????

Ok, the problem is NOT your watches. It's not ionic, it's not versa it's not any of them.  The problem is the App..  I think it has not been fixed because they simply don't know how to fix it....  After all this time of not working correctly, then to me it can only mean they do not know enough of the language it is written in to be able to fix it........ And because it is affecting so many different watches it can only mean one thing, ... The App.

We have figured that out already.  The problem is they havent, and if they have. They dont care.  They wont even roll back to the version that worked.  They did make changes so they could have some paid information on the app, but there is no way I'm spending anymore without knowing the included stuff works properly.  What does work is much slower than it was.

Ok, received an update yesterday evening from play store (version 3.8(20243440)).  Since this update the app has synced Everytime I opened the app...  Kudos to the app team. Now let's see how long it lasts...

I checked and I have that updated version and I still get the "device not found" when I first check in every morning.  I tried again this morning, and still the same.  And when I get notifications I'm getting phone numbers from different numbers than on the phone.

Great, after last night's update I am now permanently getting the "device not found" message (although my phone shows it is connected) , nothing synchs anymore and I am unable to make use of this expensive piece of plastic

This is getting ridiculous - I think I will upgrade to one of the Chinese Watches, at least they work

sorry to hear that you are also having the same issue.  My grandson has the Samsung watch, not sure which model, however he has no problems with it at all.  I know he paid a bit more for his, but it also does a lot more.  Customer service?  have no idea what it's like.  But the watch works so he hasn't needed it.  and the App is part of the Samsung phone.

I updated an hour ago. So far it syncs. Will see tonight with the other tablet.

I got the "Bug Fix" update 2 days ago... since then I have had to restart both my phone and my watch EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I want to sync.  Even then it can take a couple of restarts to get it to finally detect the device.  I am so completely fed up with this nonsense.  Their greedy money grab to set up extra pay features has left the vast majority of their customers out in the dark.  Why in the WORLD would I volunteer to pay them even more when their app doesn't work to begin with!?

Ok, I take the Kudos back...   I have found that when the 12 midnight and time to start a new day for me is when the syncing stops...  I have to go into my phones settings/apps/fitbit and clear the cache, force stop the app, then shut my phone down for a few seconds or so, then restart my phone then the app and it will sync for the whole day.   This is crazy... Come on people there is nothing worse than complacent programmers who have become lazy!

  • Very nice to see that fitbit is acknowledging the problem with iOS13 , but still Very Troubling that us android users are still having the SAME problem since (at least for me) MAY!  Complacent programmers reflect the corporate culture.  As usual, they started off great and are quickly heading downhill!

Understand your frustration.  The app and unit worked just fine with really no problems.

My next fitness device is definately NOT going to be anything to do with fitbit.  I tried the app at 5 this morning and nothing. Then it showed some steps, but much more than the unit showed. Then 0 again.  That went back and forth.  I did the airplane mode thing and still no better.  At 11 I checked and steps are matching but still no sleep info.  Maybe things are working but very slowly? Who knows.  I dont even think a moderator even looks at this thread anymore.

I have exactly the same issue with my Versa. Everything else using Bluetooth continues to work fine on my Android phone, its only Fitbit that fails. I have to restart Bluetooth and force close Fitbit to wake it, or restart my phone. Fails randomly anywhere between 6 hours to 2 days. Utterly disappointing and has now been failing for over 2 months. So tired of finding my watch has stopped and I've missed notifications.

Wow!  Now heres something different that my charge2 is doing.  Since I did the airplane mode on and off today to try to get it to sync, every time I open the app now it shows zero steps for a few seconds. Then my steps show up.  However......I still have no sleep data.  And I know I had the band on all night.  It seems like it's now getting worse.

I am having this same issue. I had it happen months ago when android had a system update and I followed the instructions on repairing my versa to my phone. It worked for me last time. But now, android has had another system update and I've had to reinstall and repair and restart my phone every morning because I get the no device found. I'm not sure if it is the watch, or just because of the updated android system. I've never had these issues until the last 2 android updates! This time is worse than the last because it is daily and the instructions for repairing the devices are not working as they should.

I noticed the problem started with the irreversible update from fitbit in may or june, but it could be android.  You know who would know?  FITBIT!  its thier problem because they are not addressing it, but since it started, have started selling enhancements to the app.
