How do I sync my fitbit Charge 3 with a pixel 4 phone

I bought a Pixel 4 today and can't get it to sync with my Charge 3. 

 

According to fitbit support articles, devices running Android OS 8.0 and higher are compatible. However, my Pixel 4 is unable to pair my Charge 3 as a new device (it does see other bluetooth devices). What am I missing?

Hi @DMSdangermouse  when I changed phones, I just logged in as usual with email and password and it was fine. You try that?

That's the first thing I did. I messed around with it until frustration set in and I gave up. Then an hour later, I saw that it had started syncing. Not sure what caused it to start working, but I'm happy that it did!
