Huawei P30 Lite compatibility

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I got sync issues since I changed from an Sony Xperia phone to a Huawei P30 lite phone. Since the last update it won't sync at all anymore (I read I'm not the only 1 having these issues, also other phones aren't being synced anymore).

Apparently Huawei isn't tested yet by Fitbit, but Fitbit is using that excuse for over 2 years now instead of start testing and make the app work properly with my Huawei. When I bought my Fitbit the specs for using it with a phone was a certain Android version and Bleutooth version that had to be available on a phone, and on my phone those versions are correct. If I had known my Fitbit wouldn't be working correct with certain brands of phones I wouldn't have bought a Fitbit. It's an expensive gadget and it's useless without the app. In my opinion Fitbit should have been more open about that.

Hi.

I have a huawei p30 lite and a charge 3. I have no problem with the 2 syncing. I would just like to know when I could expect to receive notifications on my fitbit seeing as you guys say you're constantly testing new devices etc.

At the moment I am regretting purchasing a fitbit because of the above reason.

Hi @SunsetRunner and @Anzel. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the compatibility with the Fitbit app. I understand how you're feeling about the syncing and notifications issues, and I'm sorry that you're going through this situation. Our team constantly works to optimize the Fitbit app to work with phone and tablets, and once that's accomplished those models are added to the official listYour Huawei P30 Lite might have fulfilled the minimum requirements (Android 7.0 or higher and Bluetooth 4.0) which allowed you to sync before, however there isn't a guarantee that it'll always work until they're confirmed to be compatible.

If the troubleshooting steps for syncing issues and the tips for notifications not work, the best suggestion is to try with a compatible device to determine if the compatibility with your phones is the main factor of this situation.

I'll be around if you have another question.

Thanks for your reply Lizzy.

I just wonder now when the Huawei P30 lite will be confirmed to be compatible.

Because there still is no clarity about that.

Is this type of phone scheduled to be testen and added to that list any time soon?

And I know the phone is the main factor it won't sync because a few months ago I changed phones, and my previous Sony Xperia synced well (most of the times).

But after the latest Fitbit update (I didn't had any phone software updates) it's horrible.

I too am having this problem, worked fine for my Samsung S8 but since getting a P30 Lite the app fails to sync properly the phone.

It records the steps, sleep times etc.. but the notifications just do not work.

Sometimes it says nothing, sometimes it says it's not enabled and i need to restart my phone, but restarting does nothing and i never receive a whatsapp notification.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem anymore.

My problems are exactly the same as you described them.

Not syncing, not recognizing my phone, no notifications.

Sometimes I turn off my wifi, mobile data and bluetooth, then restart my phone and turn those options on again. After that it might work properly for an hour or so. But this doesn't always fix the problem.

Lately I have to manual press sync for at least 15 to 20 times before it will sync, and that's very irritating when you're working out and you want to know your scores!

Guessing there is no support for this issue due to the lack of responses from fitbit?

Any news on this?

I didn't get any additional information.

But I have to say since last weeks update manual synchronization has improved a little bit. But continued synchronization still doesn't work. Also notification on my Fitbit isn't stable yet. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I'm also having sync problems with my P30 Lite.  Any updates?

Hy Sky,

To my surprise the synchronization became much better last week after my
phone got update to Android 10.
It even syncs automatically.
Hopefully that will solve your problems too 😁

Could you tell me how you did sync your phone to your charge 3? I'm trying to and I go to the find a device in my phone settings and it tells me to go to this devices app to sync them and when I go to the Fitbit app I don't know where to go to try to find it could you help?

Since Fitbit does not seem to be working on the problem, I decided to sync my Fitbit Blaze with an old iPod that was lying around in the house.  This syncs my sleep, steps and all other data that my Blaze can collect.

As for the GPS tracking, I decided to install Strava on my Huawei phone and connect Strava data collection to Fitbit.  That way I can sync my bike rides using my phone and view the data in the Fitbit app.   Strava also has a different set of data that I can consume.

I also tried GPS tracking with the iPod, but the distances are way to inflated (a 6km stroll is tracked 12km on the Fitbit iPod).

I have to say that I am disappointed that Fitbit is not addressing the Huawei issue. I will use this hacked configuration for the next little while. Eventually I will need to decide to (one of these options):

- Continue with the Strava hack

- Buy a Google phone (but I just got the Huawei)

thank you for this! I appreciate your input. I am also disappointed in the
fit bit crew for not stepping up, but I guess I can see how some are not
happy with the huawei situation that seems to have disappeared suddenly
wit the covid pan. thanks again. I like the P30 and like you just got it,
so not ready to do a changeover all over again haha

I am considering buying a new Fitbit and wanted to check if compatibility with Huawei phones has been resolved. I too had these issues a few years ago. I noticed that one of your options was to ditch Fitbit for Garmin. That is actually something I did a few years ago. At that stage Huawei was listed as a compatible device on the Fitbit website. When I had issues with syncing and eventually my Fitbit stopped working completely during the guarantee period, I bought a Garmin. I continued to have these same connectivity issues with the Garmin and Huawei phone. Eventually I got a new phone and in 2 years have not had any issues with connectivity. My point is that as long as you have a Huawei, you may have syncing issues with any fitness device, except a Huawei fitness tracker, I would imagine. I made the error of thinking that the problem was the Fitbit, only to experience the same issues with a Garmin.

In the app you press on your profile pic, on the left top.

Then you see the option "devices"there you press on your device Charge 3.

In the next screen you get the sync option, just press sync there.

When I bought my Huawei phone I checked if it had the right Android and Bluetooth versions to work with my Fitbit. It does. It never came to mind to check out the Fitbit page to see if my specific phone was tested in combination with the Fitbit because when you buy a Fitbit all it says on the sellers page is to check if you phone have the right Android and Bluetooth version. I really like my Fitbit as an activity tracker, but I'm disappointed at Fitbit as a brand. It's not like Huawei is an unknown small smartphone dealer. It's huge..
