This is getting ridiculous. It used to be 1 in 19 times that the Android app wouldn't sync since it claims it can't find the ionic... That is on the wrist of the hand holding the phone. Now it's 4 out of every 5 tries. What gives?

I feel for you, i'm currently having the same problem with my ionic even though in the past I was able to pair it easily with my fitbit app now my phone app and the one on my computer doesn't seem to sync with it.

Same problem....with IONIC

I've finally given up.
My Ionic will sync fine with my LG G6, the first time after a factory reset. It takes forever to update (the 10-15 minute update takes over an hour for example). The all day sync options seem to make no difference to anything. And the first time either the phone or the watch loses sync, that's it...you're basically toast. Maybe if you manually restart the phone and watch a few times it'll get back together...but no guarantee...
I've updated the watch, the app, the Android OS, tried all the combinations of options, wifi, bluetooth etc. It is BROKEN. I shouldn't have to run a troubleshooting flowchart every time I want to see my step-count.
Seriously - it's not like Bluetooth is a leading edge technology anymore - my headphones manage to sync every time, my 8 year old car manages to sync every time, but my $300 'smart' tracker simply refuses.
I'm done with it. I went out and bought a Samsung Galaxy Watch. Cost less than the Ionic, has more options, swim-ready, heck, I can even answer and make calls on it unlike the Ionic. And it syncs without issue.
Now I just have to work out what to do with this **ahem** Ionic...looking at Ebay, the second hand value is basically nothing...so looks like this was just a $300 mistake.

Thanks so much MarcStocker, you are a lifesaver 🙂 !!
removing Fitbit watch from the app then adding it back within the app which works for my fitbit Ionic.

This is my issues as well. I've had my LG G6 for nearly 2 years now, and it was the top LG phone at the time I bought it. It has zero issues connecting to any other Bluetooth device, to include every vehicle I have ever owned or rented, my Google home, headphones, speakers, etc. When I had trouble syncing my Charge 2 following an update, Fitbit's terrible customer service actually told me to buy a new phone. Fitbit only cares about making the Samsung, Motorola, and Google phones "compatible" so if your device isn't on that supposedly ever-updating list (except 2 years and still no LG G6), customer services cares not at all about your problem.
I should not have to turn my bluetooth off and on every time I want to sync my Ionic. I should not have to unpair and then pair every time I want to Sync. I should not have to do a factory reset every time I want to Sync. And fitbit does not include a warning when you're buying their products and spending hundreds of dollars that it won't work if you don't have one of the listed phones so that you can save your money or buy a different smart watch.
The Ionic was a gift, so at least it's not my $300 wasted. But I am so over Fitbit's lousy customer service and complete disregard for customers' experiences, that without a complete and total turn around, I will never purchase another fitbit product. I'm done.
Off to go unpair and re-pair my stupid Ionic so that I can see my stupid sleep cycle. Ridiculous.

I haven't read through all of the previous posts so this may have been mentioned already but the problem I found when both my Ionic and Charge 2 stopped syncing with my Android phone was an issue with bluetooth connectivity. I had changed some things and the problem was that both trackers were trying to sync with multiple other bluetooth devices that I also had the fitbit app on. I have the app on my Phone, Computer, and Tablet and all three of them were trying to pair to the trackers so whichever one it paired to first it would sync with. I had to disable the other devices from trying to pair with the trackers every time as I only wanted to pair and sync with my phone. I have had no problems syncing with my Android phone since.

I'm glad Jay787 got it to work. For clarification, I only had my Ionic
pairing with one device when the problem manifest. There was never
competition. This was the only such device that I have used for purpose. I
tried to change pairing to my Mac when the Android was failing to connect,
but found that connection did not work there, either. On reflection, I
believe the problem was likely the Ionic BT radio.

I got an Ionic as a gift some time ago. But the **ahem** thing just stops syncing all the time. I have to keep setting it up again, and again, and again...
Then at some point I noticed that, in my case, the syncing always stops when WiFi on my phone is off. when i turn on WiFi and then try to sync, sometimes it still won't sync, but in that case turning off bluetooth and then turning it on again solves the issue and the watch will do a sync.
But this behaviour is really annoying and unacceptable for a device with a retail price of € 275,-. When is there going to be a real fix?

I keep the same problem ever since. Sometimes my Fitbit goes without synchronizing for a week or longer. And I still havent found a solution but i have a bunch of fitbit support emails that dont help me.

It looks like FitBit is itself unfit - unfilt to be used properly! Looking at this log as well as doing searches on the internet it seem this is a problem that has been with Un-FitBit for years!!! Are there any other devices out there that are better at this. This has gone beyond a joke.
I can not reccommend this device (fitbit - Iconic) to anybody!
In my case my android phone can see the "Iconic" as a device, but when pairing nothing is paired.
How many more years will it take Un-FitBit get this resolved?

Just another post from a frustrated Ionic user.
After the fiasco caused by this latest firmware update, what I can't really believe is that Fitbit hasn't reached out to the Ionic community.
How about an email or text to let us know what you're planning to make this right?
Passed right off in Kelowna, BC, Canada.
Thanks for nothing Fitbit
Robert

Dude you literally saved my nerves. I read 20 articles and tried soooo many things, after 30 restarts, 30x turnjng BT off and on, multiple shutdowns of both the app, the FitBit and the phone - even just unpairing it worked for me.
