Ionic - will not sync with phone following software upgrade

I have a LG G5 and recently had a fitbit software upgrade - now the app will not sync

i have checked bluetooth, restarted both watch and phone but nothing works. Phone still works with Aria scales!!

It appears that you have to uninstall and then reinstall the app - you lose all unsynced data!! which you couldn't sync because of the upgrade!1 Not good
