I installed 2.72 last night.  Seems to be stable.  My phone is not hot or sluggish anymore.  It was terribly sluggish and so hot that I was holding in front of AC vents to cool it off! lol.  Fitbit needs to address this ASAP.  If I had a limited data plan I'd be calling them screaming at them about this issue.  Thankfully I have unlimited right now.  I find this totally unacceptable.  What data is this app using?  Is it collecting?  What feature is hogging the data?  And how did this get through the QC/test phase?  It's clear this is happening to many phone of all brands.

I reverted back to 2.72 found on APKmirror, and it is much much better. My battery life has gone back to normal and I can routinely charge my phone just once a day.

Am I looking for 2.7.2 or 2.72???

I put 2.7.2 on and it's old. No tiles or anything? Is that the one I want?

I found 2.72 and installed last night.  My battery life seems more stable this am.  My phone is over 2 years old so the battery life isn't fantastic to start.  But with the faulty fitbit app it was shockingly horrible.  I was attached to the charger all the time.  And the phone was so hot and terribly sluggish.

Same! My phone is approx 2 years old but the battery life has been fantastic up until a certain app or Google Play Services would break it, and then I'd have to troubleshoot and find which app is the culprit. I hope they resolve the issue soon, although I don't really use much features in the app itself that I don't mind sticking to 2.72. As long as it tracks my workouts and my stats into my account I am happy.

Also judging my the descriptions released for 2.72.1 and 2.73, there wasn't much changes it seems like for the 2.73 version. Only "bugs and performance improvements" but that doesn't seem to be the case lol.

After over 36hs I can safely state I "fix" this issue. Right after I opened this post, I stop the app, whipped cach and data an uninstall it.

Reboot the phone... reinstall the fitbit app from play store, login.

So, far, the battery issue is over, and no system warning about cpu abuse.

@tofuuu630 I should have found 2.72.1 but I didn't.  I figured 2.72 was fine.  I can't tell that I'm missing anything.  I did have to completely delete my versa and reset it up to get it to sync after the install.  And even then it took many tries for the app and the versa to connect.  I was getting worried.  But so far so good I guess. I had a ticket with fitbit and I told them I rolled back.  I said based on online forums this is clearly a widespread issue.  The app was making my phone useless and please let me know when they roll out a fix for this.  I'm appalled this got through their testing.  They really jacked something up because the fitbit app has never caused me an issue.

Same thing. I tried to install the 2.72 and 2.73 APKs from apkmirror.com, but my phone said they were corrupted. So, I completely uninstalled the app, rebooted, then reinstalled from the Play Store. It's been fine since.

Can you immediately put the previous version of the app in the playstore?

Uninstalling , rebooting then reinstalling hasn't fixed it for me
Best Answer

@Quaz did wipe out cache and data before uninstall?

Best Answer

I uninstalled the app, restarted my phone, installed the app. 13 hours problem free!

I am having the same issue with the Fitbit app on Android with my s8.  The application is using tons of data and draining my battery very quickly.  I keep getting notifications that it is using 14% of my CPU.  I am uninstalling the application until it is fixed.

I've disabled the use of mobile data on the background. This seems to stop the app's hunger for data. I can still see the stats when I open the app.

So I just got a warning from my data, 6 days into the month, Fitbit has used 800mb in 6 days??? Half my plan gone in 6 days.

Samsung s7

Fitbit app: 2.73

@Janneman72 i did that as well based on customer service telling me to do so.  It didn't help that I noticed. Certainly didn't stop my phone from being hot, sluggish and eating battery.  I don't know if it slowed data use or not.  I gave up and rolled back

Forgot to mention that I reinstalled the app before disabling the background data. It's now also quiet on Wifi connections.

Same here.  I get a pop up that it is using too much cpu, battery can't even charge, it is using a lot of data.  I can't get text messenges and it won't ever get a GPS signal that works.  I too have a Samsung S7- a new one even.  I'm beyond frustrated and ready to just give up on it.  I am checking to see if I can return my versa.

You can see at the header of this page that they are working on it!  It's not the versa.  The versa is a good watch.  Just be patient.

Hi all. As said before give it a shot at uninstalling it, re installing the
app and the reset your phone. To me this worked with the hope they issue a
fix soon. To curb on data usage go to phone settings and ban the app from
using background data
