I'm like you don't understand enough about them but I have to use my data because I want to know when I have a call or text message and not allowed to use the Wi-Fi at work.

Just got back into using my fitbit one and feeling really motivated with my efforts. So disappointed today that my zteps aren't being tracked. Tried manually syncing with my android app but still a big fat 0. Battery is full so it's not that. I had planned on going for a big walk again today but enthusiasm not there now. Help.

Try mapmyfitness or strava to track your long walk and Yay for being motivated!  I had to delete the fitbit Android app because it was messing UP EVERYTHING on my phone.  I hope they are working on it but in the meantime get out there and walk!  Good for you.

I haven't read every post yet, but to add my experiences with this bug: mine is running red hot from CPU cycles and drains the battery  excessively. I can't really notice a raised data bandwith usage Also no crashes.
The notification centre widget gave me a lot "sync status = null".

So, not to be too picky, but I'm sure people are wondering. The app has caused a lot of unexpected data usage for a lot of people - we don't really have a big enough plan to compensate for the increase. Is there any way Fitbit can work with us to balance or compensate for this?

Also, maybe the developers can add something to alert us of data usage to avoid this being a problem again in the future.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this post. My app has consumed a combined 2 GB of mobile and WiFi data in the past week. Just turned off background data until this is fixed. Hopefully that helps.Screenshot_20180707-084925.png

Hello .

I also have the problem with increased mobile data usage.
The support advised me to record my runs without Bluetooth with the Charge 2 with "Mobile Run". Every time I start the app without having connected the Charge 2 with Bluetooth the consumption increases.
Maybe it's because it's up to the servers. In my app, the data is loaded very often. I choose something, sometimes I just see that something is loaded until I can see something.
Probably then the use of "Mobile Run" for the recording of my runs will lead to a higher mobile data consumption.
So it's probably more of the servers or Fitbit itself than the app?

Kind regards

Careful, it seems to still use Mobile Data Even with Background Data Disabled.

I am very conscious of my data usage and noticed this issue right away. I disabled background data, felt safe, and found out in another few days that it was still consuming mobile data.

To what ends I don't understand, I have all day sync and always connect disabled, and still need to sync manually when I want to update my display. The amount of data being wasted by this app is substantial. I'm very unhappy to have needed to pay around $10 effectively for absolutely nothing but a fitbit developer's screw up.

This issue has been around for almost a week now, I hope Fitbit will fix it ASAP and consider finding ways to compensate users in some way, doesn't need to be monetary but I hope you'll inform the users who aren't paying attention and apologize for your mistakes. I'd also appreciate an explanation--what in the world generates so much data?!

I'm having the same experience. My fully charged large battery Pixel has gone from 100% to almost 0% within 2 hours this morning of being connected to my Ionic. The only thing I have running is a background syncing. This is completely unacceptable. Don't make me return this smartwatch.

For those that mentioned apkmirror, thank you! Downloading the previous version has definitely solved the problem for now. Only problem is, I had to turn off automatic app updates, otherwise the phone would just auto install the disastrous version. As much as I would like to test the beta, I can't chance it seeing as I'm not on an unlimited plan. I can't believe the fitbit app doesn't have a setting option to only upload/download data when connected to wifi like pretty much every other app out there.

My galaxy  note 8 is reporting that the fitbit app is regularly consuming 12% CPU and causing excessive battery drain. This needs to be fixed asap otherwise I will have to uninstall fitbit. My son reports the same, his battery on his note 5 lasts 8 hours max since seeing up his fitbit and used to get 2 days.

The best you can do is to install an old version from appmirror

It has been three days that my Fitbit Blaze is only holding a charge for one day and it has not synced with the app since June 28. As per the resent post, I installed and reinstalled the app and it still will not sync.
