Hello. I have searched these forums, but did not find a similar question, surprisingly, so I hope someone can help.
I do not have a Fitbit device, so I am using the Fitbit app on my Android S9 to track my steps--with it set for MobileTrack. I am using it for a wellness rewards challenge at my job, but the number of steps the app tracks are a lot higher than the actual steps I take. This means I'm technically cheating, which I do not want. This inaccuracy was verified when I counted my steps and compared it to the step number the app supposedly tracked.
I have tried adjusting the "stride length" in the settings (to make my strides longer), but it did not seem to make a difference. I enabled the GPS, but that did not seem to help either, although the length in miles appears to be closer to the truth. Yet, the step count is still too large.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I have deleted and reinstalled the app, which did not work.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Mobile track is designed to count steps, ideally the best place for the phone is clipped to the users waist.
Mobile Track will use the stride setting to calculate (educated Guess) of the distance to add for each step.
Mobile track is unable to get any location info therefore GPS can not be used.
Mobile Run will use GPS to determine path and distance, then look at the users stride to calculate ( edicated guess) for the step count.
Where do you keep the phone?
Have you gone for a 100 - 200 - 300 step test wall?

Thanks Rich. I usually keep my phone in my pocket. Sometimes it's in the side pocket of my backpack though.
I'll try the 100, 200, 300 step test and get back to you.

I tried the 100, 200 and 300 step test and it's actually pretty accurate. But then overall it seems to give me way too many steps. For instance, today I went on a 45 minute walk (about 3 miles at most) and it logged 7,000 steps.
The phone was in my back pocket the whole time. I don't know what the deal is here.
