Hello there @JNick, nice to see you have joined the Fitbit Community! Make sure your tracker is under the correct requirement to read floors.

The way your tracker registers a floor is when it detects continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of about 10 feet. Because the tracker looks for continuous motion, if you are pausing too long when going up a flight of stairs can cause the tracker to not count the floor.

If the issue continues or the previous reason is not the cause of your tracker is not reading floors, I would like to recommend a restart: How to restart your Charge 2?

Hope this helps and let me know if the issue persists.
