I also have the Xiaomi Note 4. Just switch off the MIUI optimization and it will work.
Currently I am running MIUI Global 10.2. Tap a few times on your MIUI version until it gives you developer options. You will find that under additional settings then look for developer options and scroll down to right at the bottom. Just turn the MIUI optimization off.

Welcome to the Forums @Japie.
I apologize for the delay in my response. Thanks for sharing what you have tried to get the Xiaomi Note 4 to work.
If you could, maybe you could share the specific steps that you have followed to do this? That would help other users have an easier time doing as you did.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello @Anu_2191.
Thanks for sharing all of those details on the matter and mentioning the steps that you already tried.
While you have definitely tried several troubleshooting steps, I'd like to ask you to confirm if you have gone through everything listed in this help article. If there are any steps that you have not yet tried, please give them a shot and let me know how it goes.
I look forward to your reply.

Hello @Anu_2191.
Thanks for going through all of those steps and letting me know it hasn't worked.
It is possible that this is happening because the OnePlus 6t is not part of the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone. As long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it.
If you have another mobile device, perhaps you could try setting the notifications up with that other device.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

I have OnePlus 6 which has the same issue.
Also, when I go to device=>notifications it shows the famous "notification service is not running".
Would it be possible to work with me on this issue?
App Version: 3.3 (20213416)
Versa Firmware: 32.33.1.30
Also noticed, if I don't receive notifications, then phone & device will be out of sync. So I have to open and click on the sync button myself.
All-day sync is enabled.
Fitbit is excluded from Android battery optimization (so it is allowed to run without sleeping).

I'm using a note 9 and my mom is using a note 8 we both have Fitbit versus with this same error message. All troubleshooting steps have been taken. The phone is not on do not disturb and the test call functionality through the app doesn't even work.

Also experiencing this problem since installing firmware version 32.33.1.30
All of my setting are enabled. Phone and watch has been restarted multiple times. I am getting alerts for phone calls and gmail but not sms or whatsapp.
How can this issue be resolved?
The notifications worked fine prior to the update. I also have a Versa

Hi, I am having this issue and it's extremely frustrating and I would like an answer as to when this will be resolved? As there's no point in me having an expensive Fitbit if I can't use to its full features.

Same issue with Xiaomi Mi 9 - I have 2 fitbit devices - Charge 2 and yesterday bought Versa. My wife bought Charge 3 and uses Xiaomi Mi 8; this is 3 devices in one family, I think Fitbit needs to look at the case and finally resove it.
I followed all advices in this forum, under a post which was closed as there is a belief issue is resolved but is not (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Android-App/RESOLVED-06-16-2018-quot-Notification-service-not-runnin...). I am happy to participate in debug program (install any software with additional debug capabilities), provide any logs to resolve this issue once for ever. otherwise need to return my recently purchased devices as can't really use all of their functions

I was able to make it working after playing with battery settings. Interestingly I did it yesterday and notifications started working today suddenly. Because of that, I don't know what exactly which changed caused this but I have a feeling it was putting Fitbit to autostart. Anyways I think the best news is that it is possible to make it eventually working on Android after trying different settings. I hope it will work for good now

Hello, I had the same problem. Any type of Battery Optimisation running on your version of Android will make your Fitbit notification service useless. So try to reinstall the app, disable battery optimisation and then re-enable notification service. It worked for me. Also it will make your syncing faster and in real-time, not needing to do it manually.

This is unacceptable, I have had Surge, Alta, charge, all of them suffer this similar issue, notifications suddenly stop working. Currently I am using Versa 2 and notifications stopped working, I have same message that the service is not running, I have tried everything (restarting phone, disable optimization battery, restarted the fitbit, etc) Nothing seem to work.
Notification is one of the most important features in a smart watch and this problem is been there for quite a while, is there any plan to fix this issue any time soon?

Nokia 6 has also stopped working after recent updates. None of the suggested actions work.

Failing to receive notifications from a Motorola G7 Power on my Charge 3. Notifications worked the first few hours I had the device, but now I am receiving the same failure message as the others previously noted. I attempted all the troubleshooting steps in the help article to no avail.
EDIT 12/23/19: After the most recent update to the app, I was able to receive notifications for about two days. Then it started failing again and haven't gotten it to work since then.
