It's great to have you here @SunsetRunner! Thanks for sharing your experience and some workaround about how you got it working with your Blaze and music control.
Hey @Tiffw81! I would like you to confirm you're following this procedure to set notifications with your S8. Additionally, you may want to check the main thread to learn more details about it.
Hope this helps!

I also am having the same difficulties with my Blaze. It worked fine with my Galaxy s4 with receiving calls, text and emails, however, after upgrading to the S8+....I get NOTHING. No calls, text, emails. It will only pair using "Classic" which seems to only provide music. My GPS doesn't connect while running. Only my stats appear. I have also noticed since only connecting via "Classic" my battery drains terribly fast. I am having to charge daily instead of every 3-4 days. Disappointed. Hopefully Fitbit and/or Samsung get an update out quickly as it seems MANY have a lot of money invested in these products that are now not functional.

I too have an S8+. And what's interesting - my Blaze was paired and working until a firmware update. Now, none of my Android-based phones find it. Samsung or not (one is a cheap Chinese one - xgody M40, the other is a Nokia 6). And I noticed under settings on the Blaze, I no longer have a Bluetooth option under Settings, either. I can't enable Classic Mode to pair as a result.
version is 17.8.402.1 for the Blasé FW, and reinstalled the fitbit app, so its current.
In the meantime, I have it pairing with my PC, but I'd much rather pair to my phone when I am on the go.

I wasted time trying to deal with the same problem. I was told the same thing, and I checked compatible devices before buying. I have a charge 2 and it receives notifications just fine. I already returned 1 fit bit product because of poor customer service. My fit bit scale no longer works either so I have no idea why I keep t wasting my time with these products and terrible customer service. I think I love the idea of fitbit more than the actual products.

I know and understand the issue between the Blaze and S8. I was wondering for those who did get it to work...how? Or how soon can we expect an update so it will begin to work. I have my Blaze packaged back up in the box and ready to be returned unless someone can change my mind and help me. Thanks so much!

I am having the same problem. I have reset it four times. My blaze won't stay paired with my phone. My blaze is brand new. I' m not impressed with this fitbit stuff. It's over rated. Ready to take it back n get my money back

Hello all.
I have received notifications on the Blaze from my S8 only AFTER one day.
Information:
1. Blaze Classic is only for Music control
2. Blaze is for notifications.
Problem:
1. You can pair Blaze Classic , but if you try to connect to 'Blaze' you will get an error.
Workaround:
Keep using the Blaze Classic bluetooth connected, and Sync it now and then.
I know it's frustrating, trying to manually sync the phone app and the blaze every now and then, but so far it worked for me.
After a day, the 'Blaze' icon is now under the Paired Devices list. Once this is seen, you can connect to the Blaze Classic, and notifications should be seen.
Make sure that:
1. You have enabled the appropriate apps to receive notifications
2. Monitor your phone batt as the bluetooth syncs will drain it's batt.
Why does it work only after one day?
Until Samsung provides an update, patience is the answer. I guess the Phone keeps trying to connect, and maybe the bluetooth data transfer is too slow, and the connection breaks. So it needs time to talk to each other and finally when all data is in sync, it will pair up.

My blaze will only allow me to start or stop music on my phone.
It is not notifying me of calls or sms .
On my phone both blaze and blaze classic are paired but only blaze classic will connect.
This is false advertising as this feature does not work

I have been having problems receiving notifications from my Samsung 8. Today there was an update for my phone. After the update, i was able to pair with Blaze (not Blaze (classic)) and now I receive updates. Hopefully it is permanent solution. Good luck everyone!

Notifications between my Blaze and S8+ were working perfectly until last week. They then suddenly stopped. I unpaired and repaired the Blaze in the app numerous times, uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times, restarted the phone and the Blaze several times. Changed various settings back and forth in the app. Notifications worked again for about a day and then stopped again after that, nothing helped and while my wife gets notifications on her Alta, my Blaze sits silent. Fitbit insists it is a Samsung issue, but that doesn't take into account the fact that notifications had been working fine and then stopped. I am very frustrated. I would hope that Fitbit is working with Samsung on a solution. Telling me to buy an Ionic or a new phone are not solutions.

I have had the Blaze for over a year and my S8+ since they first came out. Notifications worked just fine until late last week. Nothing changed on the phone while the Blaze recently updated as did the app. So, I have trouble believing the claim that the issue is on the Samsung side of the equation.

UPDATE: well, I may stand corrected. I updated my phone a few minutes ago with an update that showed up today. It didn't say anything about Bluetooth. However, after the update, my Blaze showed up as a paired Bluetooth device and notifications started working again! I don't know if Fitbit worked with Samsung to address the problem or if Samsung addressed the issue independently. I going to assume the former and say, "thank you Fitbit." Let's hope this fixes the issue for good.
