Almost a year wearing the versa, the notification issue is not rectify. Truly disappointed.
Huawei p30 pro released later than the MATE20 Pro and it has been tried and tested but not the older Mate20 pro...
So I guess you will need to check the compatibility of device before committing to 1 if you are looking into using all the features.

While we cannot guarantee that the Fitbit app will always work on your phone, let me recommend to try uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app on your phone. Also, give a try to the steps described in this help article to troubleshoot the notifications.
