Notifications on Android app won't be deleted

I think the issues is not  CHARGE 3 releated. It rather effects all fitbit that are paired with Android.

I use a Galaxy S7 with Android 8.   The fitbit app is showing notification on and off on the phone.

Mostly all notification can be swiped off in Android 8 ( and previous releases), with the exception of fitbit's notification. These notificationan be looked at as well when the phone is locked.

I am using Fitbit for nor more then 3 years. and swipe offs used to work.

What changed?  Did one of the recent app updates on the phone cause that?

I recently upgraded from Charge HR to a Charge 3.

What can I do to fix that? There is nothing obvious under notification app settings that relates to that.

Did the fitbit app change how it send notification to Android?

Its pretty annoying not being able to swipe it off, because its sticky and gets in the way of other more important notifications.

Please help

Hey there @mattes, thanks for stopping by! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your notifications on Charge 3.

From the clock face, swipe down to see your notifications. Tap a notification to expand for more detail.

Phone calls Name or number of the caller appears. If you have an iPhone or Android (8.0+) phone, you can also accept or reject calls on your Fitbit device.
Text messages Name or number of the sender and the message appear.
Calendar alerts Name, location, and time of the event appear.
Email notifications Name of the sender, subject, and message appear.
App notifications App name and message appear. App-specific icons may also appear.

  • To delete 1 notification, tap the notification > Clear.
  • To delete all notifications at once, swipe to the top of your notifications and tap Clear All.
  • For longer notifications, tap the notification to see the full message.
  • To exit the notifications screen, press the back button or swipe up.
  • If you clear a notification from your device, the notification is removed from your phone's notification center. If you clear a notification from your phone, the notification is removed from your device.

Most Fitbit devices don’t receive notifications when you turn on the Do Not Disturb, Quiet hours, or Driving mode setting on your phone. Fitbit Charge 3, Fitbit Ionic, and Fitbit Versa receive notifications, but your device won’t alert you. Swipe down to see your notifications.

If paired to an Android phone, your Fitbit watch or tracker can alert you to notifications at any time:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the account icon > your device image > Notifications
  2. In the Vibration Settings section, turn on the Always Vibrate option.

I'll be around if you need further assistance!

Marre,

thanks for your response.

The issue I am having is not with the fitbit device itself. It is the fitbit app.

the fitbit app send alerts and notification to Android.

e.g.   2153 steps to go

or  your reached your daily goal

These Android notification can be typically cleared by swiping them off to the side on the phone.

On Thursday I had fitbit msg that was just stuck. no swipe off possible!

Last night same thing. This morning I finally could remove the msg from friday.

Thanks for clarifying what the issue is @mattesSmiley Very Happy

Have you tried restarting your phone? If not yet, please try turning it off for a few seconds and see if that removes the old notifications.

In addition, please make sure that your phone OS and the Fitbit app are up-to-date

I've moved your post to the Android App as your topic is more related to be here.

Looking forward to your response.

I think I run the latest available fitbit app 2.89.

It happened again on Sunday. and it seems to be related if you have 2 or more message queued up.

If I see 2 messages in the notification bar, I can not swipe it off any longer.

It works fine if it is a single line notification!

Is that something that can be changed? Its pretty annoying.

Swiping off is a convenience for the user.  I acknowledge the msg and will deal with it later

(or not).  But making it sticky at this point, doesn't help, e.g. I am interested in other messages at that point.

hope that helps.
