I downloaded Version 2.65.1, and I just started to notice that I now have a permanent, persistent notification. In the settings on the Fitbit app, it says "Enabling All-Day sync on Android 8.0 will require a persistent notification." However, even when I disable All-Day sync, the persistent notification remains. How do I fix this? (note: even if I disable that notification from showing, I'll get another persistent notification from Android saying that "Fitbit is using battery". This notification doesn't show while using the Fitbit app, but will appear everywhere else.)
I am using a Nexus 6P running Android 8.1.

This is happening to me too!! Fitbit have recommended I restart my fitbit but I dont have the charger with me to do so right now! My phone battery is also being completely drained since the fitbit app updated. Have also had to remove for now.

Try tapping the Android, "Fitbit is running in the background" notification.
Then tap battery and under Manage Battery, turn off Background Activity.
See how that goes..
Also if you are finding syncing is slow that drains my phone battery about 1%/minute, not the Ionic that still lasts me about 4 days for 75% battery usage. I don't use music or sparse GPS.

If I hide the Fitbit Sync Service notification from my notification bar will I still get notifications e.g. text messages, incoming calls, etc from my phone on my Fitbit Blaze?
Thanks

I'm sorry. But disabling Android battery warning messages completely is not an acceptable solution.
Currently, I am not using a fitness tracker. Only using the aria scale. There is ZERO need for a constant 24/7 notification. If all apps did this the notifications would be unusable in Android. Fix your app to make it an option like it should be. As of now, I have uninstalled the app. I will likely be selling the scale and getting a different brand if this isn't fixed soon.

wrote:You can easily deactivate the new persistent notification in the settings of your Ionic. Just scroll to the bottom and toggle "Keep alive widget" off.
Thank you so much. It worked!!!! So happy. That notification really did annoy me.

I'm in the same situation as Grooves12, I have a Aria scale and the Fitbit android app.
Since the last update I have a constant notification saying "Fitbit Sync Service - Last Synced: Unavailable".
I have read the recommended https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2322 but I have to say it doesn't make a lot of sense.
It's instructing users to turn off all battery notifications on their phones in order to ignore the Fitbit app. This means that users can have malicious apps on their phone draining their batteries, and not be notified about it because they followed Fitbits instructions.
I'm going to have to report this app in the Android store for this. Not only is it misbehaving but it is also directing users to edit settings that put their devices at risk.

I encourage other Android users to also report the Fitbit app in order to have this behaviour addressed.
To report a play store app on your computer, you can follow the following steps:
- Go to https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/contact/takedown
- Use "Harmful to device or data" as reason and fill in the other fields
- You will receive an email asking for the specific Content Policy violated.
- Content Policies can be found at https://play.google.com/about/developer-content-policy/#!?modal_active=none
- The specific one is "Privacy, Security and Deception". Under it, there are two subcategories that I think this app is violating:
- Device and Network Abuse > Apps that attempt to bypass system power management that are not eligible for whitelisting.
- Deceptive Behavior > Deceptive Device Settings Changes > Apps that encourage or incentivize users into removing or disabling third-party apps or modifying device settings or features unless it is part of a verifiable security service.
- Respond to the email with the extra information and the report should be finished.
Android users should not have to put their devices at risk to receive simple notifications from their scale.

I had the persistent notification for Fitbit, but I have not had any issues with Bluetooth not syncing in my car since the update to 2.65.1 from the Play Store.

This sucks. I literally just got a brand-new phone with Oreo (Android 8), and I have to Force Stop the app to keep it from running in the background. What a useless feature. None of the previous FitBit versions did this, and it needs to be fixed now.

I had the notification at the top of my screen but it has gone since turning off the 'keep alive widget) but my phone has not synced for 24 hours. Can anyone tell me how to get the two syncing again? The help article didn't help.

This is a horrible answer. The response from Fluxx is the quick, easy answer...that works!

Thanks but instead of telling US how to fix it, why doesn’t Fitbit just fix it?

Maybe because Fitbit doesn't have anyone who understands how to develop software?
