The web-based activity groups have closed and I read the supporting documents but it doesn't seem the app is working right. I am only able to see about 20 premade groups (by fitbit) and am unable to search for more specific groups. Also, these large groups don't have a leaderboard. My question is how do I find/create open community groups that include a leaderboard? Also, how can I see this leaderboard by month? I am personally looking to connect with Moms of Multiples worldwide and people in my area. How do I do this without these people being my fitbit friends?

Hello @Badengineer.
I'll be happy to help you better understand what is going on with the groups.
You can definitely create groups through the app. You can click here to find the steps on how to do it.
In regards to the leaderboards, you can click here to read more about them. They should be available for smaller groups.
As for searching for groups, it is not possible. In order to see groups created by other users you'd need to be invited to the group first.
I hope this clarifies that situation. Please feel free to reach out with any other questions.

@LanuzaFitbit Closing the Activity Groups was a very shortsighted thing to do. Not being able to search groups makes things very difficult. I have no Idea who managed some of the groups I was in before you removed them. Now I'll have to message every single friend and see if one of them know what closed groups are available to be invited to.
Changes should be made to make things easier. You guys are doing the opposite. VERY UNHELPFUL.
This has been a very unpopular change. Reverse it, or you'll end up losing customers.

It is silly that we can not search for open groups. It would make it better if we can search so that we can connect with other people that share our fitness interests. Please add a search function for groups.

Welcome to the Forums @dukyba.
Thank you very much for sharing your feedback!
Perhaps you could support this suggestion that talks about being able to search for groups within the app. You can comment on it or vote for it to show your support. The more votes and comments an idea gets the more everyone will notice the idea. If you do visit that board be sure to read the FAQ to better understand how the board works.
I hope to see you around! Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Please quit thanking us for our feedback. It's very patronizing. You're basically saying, "Thanks, but we really don't care." I purchased my Fitbit to join a group and challenge myself to climb the leaderboard as high as I could each month. I now have no need for a Fitbit. I'll just use my phone to track steps.

I can create a group in the “new app” but it comes up as a “closed group” so I have to know people to be able to add them. Unfortunately as Fitbit took a unilateral decision with no consultation with the people who contributed to their pay packets by buying a Fitbit to end the original “community groups “ so there was no chance to note the people in the group I belonged to.Now you can’t search or display “closed or open groups “(only a few open groups are displayed ) to see if a replica of the old group as been set up.So my question is how can i create an “open group” so hopefully original members will be able to see and join the group.

Lanuza.
On the old version of the Community I belonged to a group called “Over 70’s” which was a group of around 65 people . I was one of about 2 who live in the UK the rest being mainly from the USA .You only knew them by their “first “ name and didn’t know their email address etc; When the “old” Community system was ended with no notice there was no chance to find out contact details. It is quite possible (I hope) that someone has set up a similar group as i do not wish to be a member of a 1.5m group and trying to compare my stats with people possibly 50 years younger is not realistic. But as there is no “search “or “display closed groups” it can’t be done.As I imagine it would then be up to the “moderator “ of the group if you were allowed access.I struggle to understand why such a basic facility is not available. Not even sure how you search all “open groups” actually.Hopefully this issue is being addressed by Fitbit .
