I had this issue and man was it a pain to get back up and running. I tried using the fitbit chat but as an IT person myself it was like spinning in circles lol!

Here is my classic IT way of fixing it (no guarantee for anyone out there, this is just a joke because yes it did work but there's no method to my madness here)

1) Reboot the fitbit

2) Reboot your phone

3) Make sure app is updated

4) Uninstall app. Reboot. Reinstall. Reboot

5) Turn Bluetooth on and off a few times

6) Reboot

7) Repeat steps 1-6

😎 Unpair device from fitbit app

9) Repair device from fitbit app

10) Reboot

Should work after all these simple, non time consuming steps. Woohoo!

Hello RobertoFitbit !

Thank you for your help on this fourm.

How I could find out about a new supporting divice?

For instance, according list of supporting devices of the Xiaomi smartphone there are only 4 models. Beside they are not flagman models.

On my model Xiaomi Mi Mix2 the App Fitbt is working, except Notifications.

It looks like it need some permissions

Of cause restarting dose not help at all.

Are the Fitbit Company planing to add new divice of smartphone for supporting?

Regard,

Salmaner.

Hey Folks,

Has there been any resolution yet to the above message error screen that was posted?  I just setup my Versa (which I may add was a pain in the rear end - story for another thread).  Albeit, I get no call or text message notifications and the above screen shot.

Ideally I don't want to change my text message application (use default Messages app on my Zenphone 3).

Any updates or a resolution would be appreciated.

Regards

As an owner of multiple fitbit models over the past couple years, I usually do have to futs around with settings & rebooting in the beginning, especially to get notifications going. I would recommend double checking all your notification settings first for the device. Are they all turned on (seems like a durp thing to do but just check yourself), are they set to the right app? Is the vibrate setting on?

The Versa has a lot of settings you can play with. Once you get used to them, you'll find they are very helpful for customizing and I love them! Sometimes unpairing the Bluetooth from your phone & device helps, rebooting, and re-setting it up. The notifications take some serious sync-age so we have to give our phones & device a bit of time to sync up together. Hope you are able to get them running soon!

Its nit the app issue. I had the same problem.

Issue is with Android Permissions. It took me some time, but @RC_Cola's post helped.

Fix for Android 8:

1. Go to Battery Optimisation settings of your Android device and Exclude the Fitbit App from optimisation rule

2. Go to Fitbit App on Android App menu and clear cache & storage.

3. Allow all permissions to Fibit App in permission settings from Android Menu

4. Relogin to your app

5. Pair Device again

Voila... everything works normal..

I hope this helps...

Call me crazy, but unpairing, rebooting, pairing, rebooting, clearing cache...clearing data...uninstall the application....install the application etc. Isn't a resolution to the problem at hand.  Given you have to potentially do this multiple times and pray that it works.

I mean I have done the aforementioned steps with no resolve.  Clearly, I should have ran with an iPhone and an Apple smart watch with all the difficulties tied to getting a Versa paired.

All these steps to sync a blue tooth device is more daunting than remember the old Nintendo Contra extra lives code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, B, A, select, Start).  However at least the Contra code worded - It is pathetic a device that costs this much doesn't have adequate software built with it.

Hi there,

I also use an Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Notifications are working for me. The only time I get the dreaded notification "Restart your phone to restore tracker notifications" is when I turn off and restart the phone.

In that case I would go to Settings, Additional settings, Privacy, Notification access, look for Fitbit Notification Service and toggle off then on. This should work till you restart or reboot the phone. In that case repeat the process. Hope this helps.
