How soon do you expect the Ionic to be compatible with the new Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+?

Charge 2 just all the sudden stopped working in the middle of a 10K. I have Samsung 9, and at first it worked just fine, but a few weeks ago, it just stopped, the display went dead. I took it home and the battery said fully charged. I have tried to pair/unpair, install/uninstall the app, all with no luck. I even tried loading it to my old iPad, my new iPad and nothing seems to work. (I do have a replacement device which I have also tried and NOTHING is working). I have let the battery die on the old one, charged the newer replacement, that doesn't work either, not on any device, super frustrating!

This is the solution??  There is no solution? When can we expect a real solution?

How long can we expect compatibility to take for the S9? My fitbit synced perfectly to it until about two weeks ago, now it won't sync unless I restart my phone and happen to be lucky, which is really annoying because I need to be able to track my sleep for medical reasons. If it won't be for months I'm going to have to invest in yet another expensive piece of kit which I really don't want to have to do.

Why is this marked as solved? I checked the thread because I thought there was an honest to god solution.

I have to go through all kinds of songs and dances every day if I want my Blaze to even sync my steps.

And looking at this forum it seems even newer devices are having issues with the S9.

I did find that adding my Fitbit to Smart Devices on my phone helps a tiny bit but even with that and all the widgets and everything enabled it just will not sync. And because it keeps trying it drains the battery to where I have to recharge it every night.

It actually seems to have become worse after the last app update.

There have been so many requests to remove the solved status and for a genuine answer from Fitbit. Fitbit genuinely seem to not care. I imagine them sitting maniacally at their desks counting all the money they have made and laughing about how they save money on not needing as many servers as they just don't support millions of people.

And the mod will come in and put the same generic response that all their customer service agent give.

It's really frustrating. It looks like there are a lot of known issues with Bluetooth 5.0 and backwards compatibility with other devices but leaving us in the dark isn't ok.

The galaxy S9 has been out almost 6 months and you still have no solution for this fitbit? You have not tested it or anything- really?? We as customers pay a good penny to have your trackers and you cant ever prepaer for the launch of a new device and have it tested to verify its durability? Come on fitbit y'all need to get it together. It seems as the last few years y'all as a company have neen slowly going down hill.

Lanuza,

Since you offered help, PLEASE take the "solved" off of the thread title.  It only makes people even more frustrated when they read through the whole thread only to find out there isn't a FITBIT solution.

Thank you.

Update on my Fitbit Blaze:

Gave it to my daughter who is using it with her iPhone 6.  I am currently really enjoying my Samsung Gear.  If you're looking for an alternative, check it out.  The app isn't as good, but there are so many extra features.  I'm finally used to it.  Love fitbit for 6 years, but now my daughter can mess with it.  I don't have the patience.  Funny thing is, I was going to upgrade to the newest Fitbit.  Oh well.

Agreed. Please update to show this has NOT been solved.

I have had fitbit for ages and had contemplated moving to a new device as my Charge HR 2 is getting up there in age (but has been working great). I like fitbit a lot, it is userfriendly and contains several years of Data for me that I simply can't export to a new program (unless someone knows a way!).
My old phone died and was upgraded to a S9. This phone has been out for months! The fact that fitbit hasn't been updated or on the compatible list makes me quite miffed. It worked fine on my S8.

My phone will find my watch, and it will ask me for the number on the watch, but I can't get beyond this. It just keeps syncing and getting nowhere.

May be time to switch smart watches 😞
I do so begrudgingly because I love fitbit and the challenges with my friends. Please resolve this soon so I can stay. Thanks.

This is a really bad response. The S9 is a really popular phone and
bluetooth 5 isn't going away any time soon. Do you guys have anything
meaningful to say?

Fitbit does have a way of exporting your data:

https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1133

I don't know if Misfit works but if you import your data to Samsung Health it looks like you can then import the data from S Health to other trackers.

PITA but should be a one time PITA as opposed to this daily BS.

If any of you have older fitbits that sync'd with dongles, I did get mine to work as a temporary workaround until I can find another tracker that supports the S9.

I was surprised to find out after I bought phone that it's not compatible with fitbit charge.  I hope this gets fixed ASAP

Hello everyone!

Thanks for your feedback and interest on the situation.

As for the accepted solution, please keep in mind that this is selected by other users and not by Fitbit or by moderators themselves. I'd like to say that having a post selected as a solution doesn't mean that we will stop paying attention to threads, not at all.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Awe right when I was going to go out and buy one I see it might not work with a S9 which I think is crazy cause it's super popular phone... interesting...
