Sleep data with new layout

I suppose there was an update. The app presents sleep data differently.  Have others noticed this?

I miss seeing how long episodes of awake, light, REM and deep sleep are

Moderator edit: Subject for clarity.

This chat is not technically monitored by Google Support personnel.

I HAVE asked (with no answer yet) if the moderator (moderators) of this
group would please actually support us owners by telling us that Google
(Fitbit) even cares enough to provide us a status as to their desire and/or
initiative to help us.

There are MULTIPLE forums where Fitbit owners are BOTH expressing valid
concerns AND indicating they are dumping their devices in favor of others
(e.g. I got tired of it and moved to Oura Ring, previously being a
long-time Fitbit owner and devotee).

The current count of Fitbit owners dumping their devices in favor of
another brand now exceeds 5000 lost users (and may even be as high as
10,000 lost owners). I can't believe that Google (Fitbit) has not been
aware of this, but Google has made ZERO effort to save these losses. One
can only conclude that Google WANTS to lose these customers, albeit not ONE
customer has chosen the Google watch as an alternative.

Sadly,I think you are right. They bought out their competition and don’t
care about users. I hope to never buy a Google watch. They are too big
and clunky looking. As a woman, I want something sleek that I can wear
regardless the event.

@golferhcw

I agree and with you 100%

There are already tech articles on the newest effort to kill Fitbit.

I wish I could go back! I’m so mad I updated it!

sucks!

I wish they'd bring back the sleep data on a desktop/laptop, I loved seeing that data , easier to see the times exactly compared to that LITTLE APP on the phone. Wish they'd bring it back!!!!!

I am going to change to Xiaomi smart watch, sick of the lack of response. We are customers and not being treated like customers.

Shocking the.wsy thousands on here have been treated

I'm done with FitBit. I've been tracking sleep with FitBit and Pillow. FitBit is useless. It only tells me amount of time asleep, not light sleep, deep sleep, REM, etc. like Pillow. Not going to keep wasting time. There was lots wrong with FitBit including black screen that made it impossible to tell time, but the changes to sleep tracking made it completely useless. Last night was the last night I'll use my FitBit. It's trash today. My Apple watch and Pillow App provide the information FitBit used to provide, and I can actually use the watch to tell time. Bye!

Is this the new data display for sleep? I thought my update killed my rem & deep sleep. I even bought a new Charge 6 because I thought my other had lost it's abilities. I no longer got HRV or Breathing Rate data on my old Charge 6. Doesn't show on my new Charge either. I'll give it another day or two before I return the new one. My old one was just 10 months old. I thought the sensors had died, but it worked fine until the update.

GOOGLE really knows how to screw good things up.

MANY things have failed with multiple watches since the bad update (Sleep
Update). They have apparently made behind the scenes updates as well, as my
wife's watch just started failing and she had not updated.

I have continually reached out to moderators and support.

Most answers are simply "our developers are aware". One caring support
person stated we should not expect any correction to the issue as "certain
levels recommended this change and don't consider it worth of being fixed"
(i.e. don't care about end user emotions or concerns)

The new sleep chart is terrible.  Confusing!  The benchmarks without a number range is worthless.  Please revert to previous layout.

Best Answer
There are ways to revert, several I have seen. There are several ways to
revert, mine only worked temporarily (but reverting was really worth it to
have a good sleep graph back again).

you have to search places like Facebook and X for the one solution.

Let's be clear, Google HAS tried to provide the old sleep graph. Go to the little 'You' icon on the bottom right. Then choose 'Feed' under Community. Then choose the moon icon and then again, where it says 'sleep'. This will open up the detailed analytical graph that is so useful.

Wow... cool... thanks for sharing this. I hope everyone reads it, then
maybe there will be an end to the vitriol on the topic. I am actually used
to the new format, and, while it is non-standardly ugly it does provide all
the information and more.

Thanks for pointing that out JohnVee.  Since that is precisely what most folks want to view rather than that mess of a line graph in the new and not at all improved front-facing part of the app, why should it be buried many pokes or clicks deeply in the application?  I suppose I should be grateful that I'm not also required to pat my head and rub my stomach at the same time as assessed by the Fitbit biometrics while attempting to accessing this.  This is a half loaf at best with respect to requests but falls short of requiring gratitude if usability is a meaningful goal.  The new view adds nothing of additional value while taking away the prior simple and directly informative display.

Unfortunately it only shows all the sleep data when it wants to, so it is now surprising when it does. The worst part though is the extreme inaccuracy of the sleep data. Numerous times it has said I was asleep when I know I was wide awake and moving about, and other times it doesn't even record all of my sleep, telling me, as an example, that I have only slept 3 hours when I know I slept at least 7 hours.None of this was ever an issue before the new app. It is not a case of users not understanding how to read the new data layout. It is a majorly faulty app. My main purpose for even buying my fitbit was to track my sleep and heart data. Without accurate sleep data it is useless to me now.I strongly suspect Google is not fixing the problem because the whole reason they bought out fitbit was to kill off their competition and sell their Google watches.

Why do we think it's been hidden. Especially with no update info. So much
work to see what used to be the default screen. They put the good data in
the back seat and have us driving with stuff we can't see nor interpret.

Pretty but it's not the complete data that we used to have.

How wonderful it would have been if they just upgraded THAT screen (combined
the two versions) vs hiding the old one, then substituting it with an
inferior product.

Thanks for walking us through that, but there WAS more than that basic
graph.
