The latest update to the sleep tracker is terrible. I used to be able to really look at my different levels of sleep and gain useful information. This new graph is cluttered and confusing and practically useless to me. The sleep tracker was my favorite feature before. Please bring it back the way it was.

Can't agree more. The graph is more difficult to read . I'm finding the sleep tracking being more and more problematic overall. I will not be renewing premium. I feel like my device is becoming more and more useless to me.

The sleep tracker was the main reason I bought a Fitbit. Now I don't know what I will do.

I cancelled premium immediately after they overhauled the UI completely, however I was able to switch back to version 3.88 using the appropriate package from a software repository.

The new sleep tracker is horrible. Please go back to what we had. Perhaps someone did not pay attention in school when graphic organizers and graphs were discussed.

Although I doubt that this information will change your views, we recently learned that the sleep data redesign was for Accessibility, especially for users with visual impairments. The updated sleep section is now compatible with screen readers so users who have vision issues can see their data. The sleep graph was redesigned for color blind users. That's why it was divided & stacked into the various sleep stages as opposed to the bar graphs. Apparently, color blind users weren't able to tell the which bar graph was which sleep stage.
The redesign was also necessary for future app enhancements.
If there is specific sleep data that you are having trouble finding, let us know. We'll help you navigate to what you're looking for.

So the needs of the very few outweighed the needs of the many? That makes little sense about those with visual impairments. Maybe it somehow helps color-blind persons (don't see how, however), but for those with other visual issues (and obviously for those with none), you've made the graph EXTREMELY difficult to see and to follow. It's basically useless and like many, I'll be searching for another tracker. I've been a loyal FitBit patron for years, but as each "upgrade" is worse than the previous (with this one taking the all time prize), you've lost me. Will be moving on to something else.

I've gotten no sleep tracking since the horrible update. Please restore the original

@DocJ5. I agree. We need something for everybody. Or at least the majority. So far, I have seen NO comments from "color blind users" saying how great it is. I also don't think the majority of people in the world are color blind. That's a lame excuse for this useless change
Why don't we get a choice? Since more of us don't fit into the category that THIS design was made for, give us the design that was taken from us. You know. The useful one. Give the smaller user base the choice to use the new design. I think that's a fair request.

Hello @Nawtykitty
I shared the information that was provided to us as a courtesy.
Sorry. Since I'm just another user & not a Google employee or a member of the Fitbit team, I don't have any additional information as to why the current design was specifically chosen or why there wasn't an option to chose the sleep data layout.

How did you find an older version to update? Hate the new sleep tracker update. Considering changing to Apple which would mean a new phone too.

You can't touch any certain spot on the sleep graph to have the time of occurrence pop up. Just one issue, and don't like you can't look at each stage individually. Dislike the update.

I used to be able to tap any sleep segment and the start and end time of that segment would display. Also if you tapped the whole Sleep Stage graph with your phone sideways, it would display in landscape and be even easier to tap the short segments to learn the time they happened, and the number of minutes it was. I really LOVED to be able to see the actual (or very close to) time I was awake, or in REM or deep.
This new graph won't go into landscape mode and now it won't display any more detailed time information of the different stages throughout the night other than the start time, end time and mid time.
It DEFINITELY is a step BACKWARDS in the usefulness of the sleep info now provided.
Please put those features back!!! Or let the users choose to have the previous version of Sleep Stage graph!!!

Hello @Nanasteps
If you touch and hold on the sleep stages graph, the text above the graph will change to show the sleep stage with start and end time. If you're an Android user, you can move your finger across the graph and see the stage changes with start & end times. If you're an iOS user, you will need to move your finger to the specific stage to see the information for that section of the sleep graph.
I'm not sure what you mean by "you can't look at each stage individually". Would you please explain what information you're looking for? We'll help you navigate to it.

not a good reason to break the app for EVERYBODY else

I am 100% in favor of accessibility; the challenge is that often what makes something more accessible for one group makes it less so for another. I find that I cannot actually even read this new update. The colors are too similar to each other so I can’t tell them apart. (I am also disabled, so I applaud the effort!)
What if there was an option to toggle between different views? Those who use screen readers would automatically default to the view best suited for that. Color blind folks can choose the color palette easiest for them to read. Those with more normative vision can choose the view that they prefer. You could even give folks multiple color options to choose from for the purposes of aesthetics.
From a UI development perspective, that doesn’t seem like an insurmountable hurdle. Other apps offer this kind of thing.
