Same here, the steps on my Pixel Watch 1 and my Fitbit app are finally synced. Although this did work properly for a few days 2 weeks ago, so I won't get too excited until it works for at least a week with no issues. Here's to hoping it's finally getting fixed!

Yes, I too will wait for a least a week to make sure that the Fitbit, WW app and my Pixel is showing the same number of steps.  I will post at that time if it's working properly.

Ha, almost comical at this point. Just went for a run and my Pixel Watch shows 8,349 steps and my Fitbit app shows 8,177. This is exactly what happened a couple of weeks ago, too 😡

Best Answer

Well the syncing between my Pixel watch and Fitbit app after two day of showing the correct number of steps is again incorrect.

Unfortunately I'm having the same problem. Tuesday was off, yesterday was 100% correct, today is back to being off. Ugh.

Best Answer

The steps weren't accurate yesterday, but it seems to be ok today.  We need a permanent fix on this.

Any update on this? I'm still seeing the same issue.

Unlikely, Google is pretty tight-lipped on issues they're working on, other than "we're aware and working on a fix." This issue has been going on for a month now and still have no ETA on a fix.

Yes, I know. Today for me everything is syncing properly. Yesterday my WW app was not showing the correct number of steps to the Fitbit app.

---

I have been noticing that one day the number of steps between the Fitbit, WW app and my Pixel watch are accurate and are showing the correct number.  The next day it's totally off.

I never know each day what it will show.  Up until Sept. Of this year there was no issue at all.  Google Fitbit says they were doing some background work which was caused the issue.  They said it would be over the end of Sept.

This issue still persists.  I depend on my device for accurate number.

Originally the Fitbit device synced with the phone app, but these days it seems to sync with the Google data storage via the phone app.  And the phone app then seems to sync with the Google data storage to display the data.  So there a lot more data transfer efforts before we can see the data that the Fitbit device collected.  I suspect that the environment has changes, the first Fitbits were designed to give the user wearing it direct access to the collected data - these days it is designed to give the data to Google and your app needs to work to collect it - such larger data transfers, not just showing the user what the device sampled.

This is only a description of how I see Fitbit working these days.  I'm using a Charge4, it always works reasonably well - I'm only trying to record what is health related happening.

I suspect you're right, @EdmundC. The biggest example I see of this is seeing real-time steps in the Fitbit app. Previously, if your Fitbit device was actively connected to your phone and you had the Fitbit app open, you could see the steps automatically update every time you took a step. Now, the only time you'll see the steps change is when the watch syncs with the Fitbit app. Makes sense that it no longer does live updates because it has to take that data, send to to Google, then download that data back to your phone.

This is definitely still an issue. At least it is for me on Pixel watch 1 and Pixel 8 pro phone, all latest updates. The worst part is that bad step data in the app seems to get pushed back to the watch. This morning I had over 1000 steps between 8-9am, and on the watch it showed that I met my hourly step count for that hour. I opened the app and it showed over 1k less steps than what the watch showed, even after manually syncing from my phone and my watch. The app also did not show that I completed that hour. About an hour later I looked at on my watch and suddenly my hourly step count for 8-9 am was cleared. This is highly frustrating as I am trying to challenge myself and I should be able to rely on devices that I pay A LOT of $$$ for to work properly.

My husband has Pixel 8 with Fitbit App. He has no other devices, just wants to track steps with the app on the phone. Phone/App have location settings on and all are updated to latest version. Phone is Android v14. App last update in the Play Store Sept 25, 2024.

His issues with the app counting his distance/steps began around the end of September 2024.
Sometimes the walking distance will magically appear later in the day.

So...whatever was "fixed" in the latest version om 9/25/24 broke it as well.

ADDING THIS OTHER WEIRD THING...last week, it was showing the day at zero steps, but when you look at the week mode, it would show the steps each day when you looked at the whole week. Today, 10/13/24, it is NOT showing the steps he took today in the week mode...but NOW is showing the steps (10,000+) in the month mode. See screenshots of day, week, month.

Weirdly, I have a Pixel 7 Pro phone and use a Fitbit Charge 5. Mine seems OK. (Of course, now it will probably be hosed because I wrote that.🙄)

Side Question...can I roll back to a previous version of the App?

Some screenshots showing the month/week/day counts that are different.

Hello @TamRootbeer

There was a recent update to the Fitbit Android app that started rolling out in October, version 4.27. The app updates tend to rollout in waves. So, your husband should keep checking the Play Store for the update if he is still on version 4.26.1.

In this thread (<-- click link), one of the Moderators posted today (13 Oct 2024) that he will inform Support that the users are still having issues with step syncing to the Fitbit app even after updating to version 4.27. Meaning that, your husband may still see an issue with step syncing even after updating to version 4.27.

As for your other question about rolling back to a previous version of the Fitbit app, currently there isn't a way to do that from the Fitbit environment.

Thank you.

This is the version we both have right now; which says it is: see screenshot....version 4.27, but not as of Oct. 13.

I'll be looking for the new one...if a new one comes out.

Side note....by the end of the day, hubby's phone, a pixel 8, had the steps on the day tab.

(Screenshot from my phone, Pixel 7...it works with my phone, but I suspect that this is because I am using a Fitbit Charge 5 watch. My hubby only uses the phone.)

I've been checking my steps every day since Saturday and the steps have matched on the watch and the app, so I'm hoping this issue has finally been resolved. However, I'll need it to work with no issues for a couple of weeks before I deem it fixed as this has happened previously where I thought it was fixed and it reverted back to being out of sync.

The difference was several thousand steps y3sterday 10/14/24, and a couple hundred today. Getting better but not fixed

My watch today was syncing properly up until the very end, but it shorted me just under 200 steps at the end of the day (16,321 in the app, 16,507 on the watch).

I did shut down my watch a couple of times because I was at a hockey game and didn't want my claps to register as steps, so I'm thinking that may have something to do with the discrepancy tonight. Will test again tomorrow without shutting down/restarting my watch to see what happens.

This morning on the hourly activity both my watch and the phone app showed 9am as completed (I have been very diligent about checking both regularly). When I hit 250 steps for 10am, I got the little celebration ding so I went in to check and surprise, surprise... on both watch and phone it changed 9am from completed to not completed, but 10am was marked as completed. 😡 I feel that I can no longer trust that fitbit is providing me any value since I have zero confidence that it's tracking anything correctly.
