Thank you, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Also: thank you.
I recently purchased a Charge HR, and it would not pair with my Verizon Galaxys S4. I spent well over an hour with Fitbit customer support going through I don't know how many rounds of the usual troubleshooting steps, which I had already done. The Fitbit support rep tried to tell me that because I could sync to my Windows 10 laptop, the problem was solved. At that point I insisted on the call being escalated to a manager. After a bit more nonsense, the manager agreed to send me a new Charge HR, which they did. Initially I was able to sync with my phone, and then suddenly it stopped working.
More rounds of going through troubleshooting steps. Finally I happened to enter the right search phrase in Google, found this thread, followed the steps, and....drum roll...my Charge HR magically synced on the first try.
Did I remember to thank you?
Fitbit Support: Just in case you are paying any attention at all:
What should I know about using the Fitbit app on my Android device?
The original solution was posted over a year ago; many people are obviously still using this to resolve their sync problems. Really, I don't understand. I love my device, I love the Fitbit community. But I am very disappointed in Fitbit customer service and support. I expected much, much better.

Hi ngg,
You're my man!
After buying a Charge HR and syncing with my Samsung S4 the connection sometimes works but most of the time it doesn't. After I found your post I tried the solutions you gave and it works at once!
Unfortunately I have to run BLE scanner more than once but I can live with that.
Unbelievable that Fitbit still doesn't mention this simple solution!!!!!

Many thanks ngg. I spent hours trying ro get my S4 to connect and finally came across your recommendation which I followed to the letter. The LE Scanner found my Charge 2 straight away and once I had asked it to connect the rest was easy. However, I did have to remove the Fitbit App and reinstall it before it would allow the sync process to begin. Thank you.

Works perfectly. After over an hour on the phone with fitbit - used your solution and done in 5 minutes.

Connecting via Bluetooth LE Scanner seems to have solved my Samsung S4 sync issues with Blaze as well ! Thank you.

UPDATE: this fix seems to have solved the syncing issue for the most part. I occasionally have to get through the process again. However, after the initial time I carried it out when everything seemed fine, I have since found that notifications do not work. I have to say that I find this all really annoying from a company of this size. I used to have a cheap £21 import from China (bought from Amazon) and in 18 months of wear it never once failed to sync and the notifications were brilliant. I may go back to using this as the Fitbit is so unreliable.

I've recently started having to manually sync using bluetooth LE scanner, sometimes when I look at the dashboard it says last synced two weeks ago!
Also notifications has never worked for me, I don't really need it but it would be nice to have it.

My Samsung S4 finally died and I have moved on to an LG V20, I may start a new thread if there are any problems sync'ing with my new phone.

I had the SAME issue. I understand my phone at this point is a crap bucket that likes to run slow, not pick up blue tooth devices etc but getting the Alta HR to connect was a pain in the Butt.
FINALLY got it to work after an hour of frustration and going through all the avenues available on here.
For me it took uninstalling the Fitbit app, Restarting my phone, Downloading the Fitbit app, Restarting my phone, and then as I opened the Fitbit app, restarting the fitbit itself by having it plugged into my computer and then opening the app to FINALLY get it to connect.
Even when I got the "Check the Display on your fitbit for the 4 number code"
I had to once again restart the Fitbit itself with halving it plugged into the computer with the charger and pressing the black button 4x.
How long has this been out for and why haven't they fixed this issue? It shouldn't have been this hard just to get the device to sync and for it to not get stuck on the "visit fitbit.com/setup" scrolling screen.
Otherwise, Rant over. the **ahem** thing is finally connected. But I hope this odd combination might help some other poor soul out on getting their device synced properly. Should have read the reviews first more thoroughly before purchasing.

Hi thanks for this i can confirm this works.. this is the only solution that works with samsung s4 and the new fitbit app. I have had a new fitbit sent to me by fit bit and i have just recieved it this morning this wouldn't sync either wouldnt find my fitbit either.. untill i found this message before o sent an email.to fitbit .. however i have to have the BT SCANNER running along side my Bluetooth as it still says no tracker found if i dont...
Think samsung and fitbit should try and resolve the problem for samsung s4 users with out people having to find out like you.. i wouldn't have know... what happens when the app hasanother update what happens then.
Thank you for sharing this i hope other s4 users find this works as well.

This solution worked for my S4 and a Charge 2 too. I think this definitely confirms the Fitbit app has something wrong in it. If the Bloototh LE Scanner immediately finds the Charge 2 while the Fitbit app has this big amount of problems, there is something wrong. After switch on and off bluetooth, S4, Charge 2, reinstall the App, try, retry etc etc, only after using the BTLE Scan I could get the sync. Thank you again for thissuggestion. But now I hope I have no trouble for the future
