Sync Problem Solution - Samsung Galaxy S4

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
Hi

Since purchasing my Charge HR I haven't been able to sync it to my Samsung Galaxy S4 at all, like many people on here.

I seem to have solved the sync'ing issue between my phone and my Charge HR, it might work for other S4 owners?

I downloaded the app's 'BLE Checker' and 'Bluetooth LE Scanner' from Play Store to see if my phone was Bluetooth Low Energy enabled/capable.

I ran both apps. After running 'BLE Checker' it confirmed 'BLE Supported' so I closed the app.

I then used 'Bluetooth LE Scanner' to scan for the Charge HR - it found an 'unknown device', I tapped this and then selected 'connect', which it did.

Sync'ing then commenced without any problems.

I initially thought I'd have to run one or both apps to sync in future but the S4 and Charge HR are now sync'ing without either app running.

S4 is running 5.0.1.

Hope this helps others, if anyone else uses this procedure please post your results.

@JulitoYou're right! With Android, there are lots of factors such as phone hardware, OS system such as Android 5.0, 5.1, 5.1.1, 6.0 etc. Glad to hear that the new S6 Active is playing well with our app. Happy New Year! Robot Very Happy

Hi everyone, like so many before me experiencing the same problem, it would seem the common denominator was the latest update fitbit released. Prior to running version 2.16.3 i could do it all - receive call notifications, sync on my s4 running 4.4.2 then 5.0.1 and on my ios 9 ipad mini 2 (now currently on 9.2). Now it's so messed up. Deactivating new feature for bluetooth always on helped for a time but now I'm still stuffed... conversations in challenges in my s4 is so far behind what's on the mini seriously is not useful. Notifications on my chr now doesn't work. But here's my gripe - none of us should have to run other apps to try resolve the issues nor should we have to burn precious time taking through forums for a solution. The app was great before, they have a fab product, so why screw us around with dud updates with no ability to roll back? Plus i don't see an upside to the update for it has brought further instability and made it all less reliable.
Please introduce a roll back feature on the app, or just fix it! Please!

When I opened the Bluetooth LE scanner And no devices are found. I read some else to be sure the Bluetooth is turned on in the fitbit app? How do I do that? Very frustrated trying to get my charge setup.

Hi dana3kooks

You turn on bluetooth through 'Settings' and then 'Connections' and it's the second one down after Wi-Fi.

You should then get the bluetooth symbol at the top of your phone's screen.

Once the symbol comes up try BLE Scanner again and your Fitbit Charge should appear.

Unfortunately I've already tried this and no luck. The bluetooth symbol is on my phone but the scanner doesn't find the fitbit nor does my computer find it. FYI this charge was a refurb I purchased through Groupon.

Any more suggestions? Thanks.

Start everything with a reboot, make sure your phone is not near other
devices, try again.

I followedk the directions and downloaded both apps. At the moment it is synced. I hope it stays connected. I've had this thing about a week and I really want it to work.

Thank you thank you thank you!!  I'd had my fitbit for nearly a year when it started having sync problems.  I'd have to turn off the phone and the fitbit and then restart both to get them to sync.  Really annoying. When I emailed customer support they told me to un-pair it and re-pair.  Big mistake, then it wouldn't connect at all. I've tried all their suggestions and even demanded they send me a new tracker but nothing worked, not even the new one. Finally I found this post and tried it and lo and behold it actually paired with my app!! Of course none of the past 3 week's information seemed to have saved but oh well. Thanks again!!

OMG - YOU ARE MY HERO!! Works perfectly. Thank you so much for your detailed, well written and very successful instructions! I have had problems syncing my Samsung Galaxy 5.0.1 since 2 months after purchase, about a year ago. Using location services would sometimes help, rebooting phone sometimes, etc. But really, it was hit or miss. This is the first time I can remember in months that I have been able to look at the dashboard on my Fitbit app and see it sync! Thank you again!

Thanks ngg! I just connected my replacement HR with my S4 and it stopped syncing after only a couple of hours.
My S4 could find my HR in the scan, but couldn't communicate with it to connect. BL scanner found my HR and connected to it right away allowing the sync.
Hope it keeps working!
