Note the Fitbit app despite is built for Android devices not all the mobile models are compatible. So the first step here is too look if your device can be found on our list of compatible devices.
If your phone is not there, its possible that is not compatible to sync, or your phone has not been tested yet to guarantee all the features will work. While many Android devices have a Bluetooth 4.0 chip, not all devices are able to be accessed by apps like the Fitbit App.
Other way to review if your tracker is compatible is to review if the options to Sync menu of the app are available, if not, it will indicate your app is not compatible to sync. To access here just tap your tracker's tile, and you should be able to see these options:
If you can see these options, then is just matter to turn your Bluetooth On and let your tracker syncs. Since you already pair your tracker with your computer is not require to do this with the mobile app again.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions.

@CarliT Welcome to our Community! You will need to have a compatible device to sync your tracker. After this you need to log into the app or joining in by creating a new account which will also guide you through the setup process. If you already have an account you will need to tap on the menu icon (3 horizontal lines next to where it says "Dashboard" at the top of the app) select devices and look for the "+" icon on the top right corner where you will be shown the options to add or replace a tracker. I noticed that you posted from a Fairphone which isn't in our compatible list so if you have another device that is compatible then you can follow the instructions above.
If you don't have a compatible device you will need to setup up your tracker via a computer.
Let me know how it goes!

Thank you for the reply. I do have an account setup and I can get the Alta to sync directly with my laptop. I have the android app on my mobile phone (It's a Fairphone with Android OS) but the app on the phone only updates if I sync the Alta with the laptop first. I would prefer it to sync directly to the phone in the first instance.
Does this make sense?
Any further advice gratefully received.
Thanks
Carli
