Syncing w/Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

My fitbit app wouldn't work with my new Samsung Galaxy S7 (Marshmellow) due to syncing issues. I just reset my fitbit (plug it into laptop/wall charger and hold button on left side for approx 10seconds until fitbit symbol appears, then unplug it). App worked instantly! 🙂

Any update on when the Samsung Galaxy 7 will be compatiable with the Charge HR?

Thanks

A warm welcome to the Community @JohnL512. Currently, our team is hard working in testing the compatibility of several phones. I recommend keeping an eye on our list of compatible mobile devices for any update. In the meantime, you can sync your tracker with a computer or a compatible phone.

What seems to be happening with my Galaxy S7 is that it is doing the Auto Sync and not syncing when I want it to.  So the syncing will not always be as up to date as I want it to be.

I hope that Fitbit will fix this really soon.  I really like my Blaze and  my Galaxy S7 and don't really want to give up either one of them.

Are you aware the S7 is not currently a supported phone?  https://www.fitbit.com/devices

As it turns out, all three phones I'm currently in the market to buy, one of which is the S7, are not yet supported.

Okay will try that. It works on my S7 except not getting the text message feature. Are all features working?

Sometimes it syncs and sometimes it doesn't.  When it doesn't, I will sync it to my computer.  I love both my Blaze and my S7, so I will keep both and wait for Fitbit to get the S7 support.

@kay-i @Jdub9393 @firebug654 @nightshine As @shipo said above, the S7 or S7 Edge are not currently listed as supported devices. I can confirm this is why you're running into issues with setting up or syncing.

As a workaround while our Android team works to test and add those devices to our supported devices list, you can sync via a computer using the USB wireless sync dongle that came with your tracker.

@DrJoshFromBama Thanks for posting what worked for you, hope others here find it useful.

I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. After contacting customer service I found out that fit bit does not support my phone. I have no other means to sync my data and feel at this point - my fit bit blaze is worthless. They don't have answers on to when fit bit will support my phone. Completely Frustrated...

@Geary0342 I've moved your post to the S7 thread, please take a look at @ErickFitbit's post here

I'm not sure why but my neighbor had no problems syncing her Galaxy S7, but the Fitbit was already attached to her account.. So the Fitbit did not need to be setup, she just had to log in and the app did its thing. Maybe using a different device, a friend's phone?, would work in setting it up?

You would also have to go to the Bluetooth settings of the second device and tell it to forget the Blaze.

I had the same problem with my Galaxy S7 Edge after update. To synchronize my Fitbit Charge HR I installed the software on my computer and at the same time my Fitbit-app on my phone worked.

Maybe a coincidence, but it worked for me and maybe for you. Well worth trying.

I'm really confused. I bought my fitbit in April. I didn't have Samsung s7 then but then I got Samsung s7 and it has been synching fine. Now after an update today it isn't syncing anymore. This is ridiculous and is not advertised before you buy the fitbit?! Why is not working now and why has fitbit not sorted this clearly long standing problem if this forum anything to go by

Was this an update to the Blaze or the Phone.

If then have you done a restart of the phone, as per fotbits instructions?

If the Blaze was updayed the do a restart of the blaze.

Is there a danger of losing all the data about oines steps etc if one follows this rebooting/ resyncynic/reloadingapp/plug-in-to-PC set up process?

@BronEE, shouldn't be.  Why?  No data is stored on your phone, it is all on the central Fitbit servers.

Thanks for the reassurance. Cheers 🙂

Because the S7 is a newer up to date phone, which will have different software etc.
