Fitbit Update: 9/12/19
Hey all!
We're still investigating and working on a fix for this text notification issue on Android.
In addition to not receiving the correct text notification, we're now aware this is also affecting call notifications. Some of you may only see a previous caller's name and not the person actually calling you at the time you're receiving the notification.
When we have more information for a fix, we'll announce it here in this thread. Please stay tuned for updates!
Fitbit Update: 7/30/19
Hi everyone.
We're aware of these issues with receiving only the sender's name from your text messages. This appears to have started with the Fitbit for Android app version 3.0. If you're experiencing this yourself with your Fitbit device, please know we're working on a fix.
While our team investigates this further, we just ask for your patience. Once I have information for a fix, I'll make an announcement here on this thread.

Regarding the issue with only the sender name showing for text notifications - is there a fix coming anytime soon? Post as of 7/30 said you were aware and working on it, but it's been almost a month since that post! Please fix this! I rely on my fitbit to monitor incoming texts when I'm busy since I can just glance at my wrist - having to grab my phone to check is often not an option but a lot of texts are time sensitive for me to reply.

Can we return the fitbit and get a refund because it's not doing what it advertises? Or at the very least remove the latest (useless) update and reinstate 2.95!

Maybe it's time to get a Galaxy watch! If Fitbit isn't going to fix this simple glitch, it might be time to jump ship.

Hey everyone, made a profile for the sole purpose of commenting here. I have a Pixel 3 and a Charge 2. They worked perfectly for a long time, then like everyone else, my main feature of text message contents disappeared. I waited more than 2 months for a fix. Multiple versions of the phone software have been released. I've even seen another firmware be released. Yet still no fix for this function, something it seems a vast majority of the customer base uses.
I finally did whats been suggested here and went out and found and installed version 2.95 from a third party site. Installed it and instantly all functions are returned.
I find it wild that despite having the code for both versions, knowing one works and the other does not, that a solution has not been found. I write code, I'm having trouble understanding. Unless it's a completely rewritten program, all changes would be documented and that would form the basis of finding a solution. At the very least you should host older versions of the installer on your site just so your customers don't need to go to shady sites just to regain lost functionality. While I'm sure that wouldn't be ideal for the development team, it certainly isn't ideal for you customers to have to work around a bug you introduced months ago.
If a fix isn't coming within the week, you should strongly consider letting people downgrade their app, and host those files on your website. This is losing you customers.

Has there been any update on the inability to receive txt message?. I am using a Samsung 8 and a charge 2. Both completely updated and properly set to receive the information. This has bee an issue for a couple of months. I had faith it would be corrected, however; I am rethinking my options.

Seriously guys, don't be Fitbit. There's about a dozen posts on this thread showing how to get the 2.95 version.
And Fitbit employees - the commands you are looking for are 'git diff' and 'git blame'. I shouldn't have to tell you that. You do know what source control is, right? Starting to wonder.

I find it strange that I was using a 3 year old iPhone se until last week and got messages on my fitbit but now I changed to galaxy s9, I don't see the message which does cause problems as I'm not allowed my phone with me at work and rely on my charge 2 for messages from my children. I have now found out this is an issue being investigated. Hope its sorted soon.

Hi. So I've had this issue since July. Today a friend discovered another friend who is receiving full notifications on their Fitbit charge 2. We asked what the messenger app he used and he said he uses Hangouts. I switched my Fitbit to receive messages from the Facebook messenger and low and behold it worked. So maybe this isn't all Fitbit's fault. My ATT messenger app and Google messenger app doesn't receive full messages on my Fitbit. Only the name.

Still an issue and now looking into different smart watches. I really think this will make Fitbit lose business. Especially since iPhone people most likely have an apple watch and don't need the fitbit brand. Hopefully Samsung makes a decent watch!
