Fitbit Update: 9/12/19

Hey all!

We're still investigating and working on a fix for this text notification issue on Android.

In addition to not receiving the correct text notification, we're now aware this is also affecting call notifications. Some of you may only see a previous caller's name and not the person actually calling you at the time you're receiving the notification.

When we have more information for a fix, we'll announce it here in this thread. Please stay tuned for updates!

Fitbit Update: 7/30/19

Hi everyone.

We're aware of these issues with receiving only the sender's name from your text messages. This appears to have started with the Fitbit for Android app version 3.0. If you're experiencing this yourself with your Fitbit device, please know we're working on a fix.

While our team investigates this further, we just ask for your patience. Once I have information for a fix, I'll make an announcement here on this thread.

@pizzaboy192 Thanks for the reminder of Fit Notifications! Works great, even with app version 3.5 😉. Maybe the Fitbit app team could learn something 🤔

Sadly, for me, Fit Notifications is not sending text messages to my Charge
2.

I had the same problem. The Fit Notifications app only gives me notifications from Facebook, and ironically, FitBit. I get nothing from FitBit, but for some reason I get them through the app. Just no texts at all still. Ugh.

@LucW Probably a silly question but did you select your messaging app in Fit Notifications settings? I'm now getting text messages on my Charge 2 using Android messages. Also, check the FAQ section.

I've checked it, re-checked it, triple-checked it. Changed it. Changed it back.

It's not working.

After hearing some people say their text messages started working I decided to update from 2.95.  After the update nothing came through, all the usual settings checked.  I completely uninstalled fit bit and then reinstalled the newest version. Same thing, no notifications at all.  Went back to 2.95 and it all works again.  Hopefully, since it is working for some people, this means fitbit is close to finally resolving the problem.

@Sonoguy Thanks for providing your details. Hopefully it will give us and Fitbit some clues.

@Sonoguy I did exactly what you did.  Deleted 3.0 and reinstalled 2.95.  restarted phone and relinked the watch and phone.. Wala!  Got text messages again (sender + messages).  Thanks and I am not touching any updates again!

Another update that there is no update. It's been over 2 months now and your customers are clearly upset. Can you please tell us why FitBit won't roll back to the older version (2.95) of the app when things were still working correctly until you get it fixed? Everyone seems to want that solution until you can resolve the bigger problem.

Your latest update is literally, "Hey, we know that stuff has been broken for *months* now, but we're here to tell you that not only have we not fixed it, we went and broke something else now. K, bye!".

I have also done everything possible to get my text messages on my Fitbit.  I was having the same problem as everyone else about seeing the contact but not the message.  I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it.   Now I can't get anything at all on my Fitbit, no contacts, no messages, not even phone calls.  This is so frustrating.  I have had a Fitbit for seven years and this is ridiculous.

Hi Aless, I don't get ANY notifications at all! I guess that's because I have an unsupported phone (Nokia 😎 and Android 9?

@pizzaboy192THANK YOU!! I've never heard of Fit Notifications.  Now my Fitbit works again.  Do you know if Fitbit ever gets around to fixing the issue, will it override Fit Notifications and work like it used to?

Best Answer
@Kristalg just enable a couple apps for notifications in the app and it should start sending them once they fix it. That's what I've done.

The only one broke for me so far is just text messages so I've added my texting app as another app in the list after following the fit notifications setup. Once they fix it I'll get two message notifications on my watch.

I really feel Fitbit is only concerned with new sales and not supporting and retaining their existing customers.  Two months without an update means this isn't a priority for them.
I had an issue with the Aira I, along with hundreds of other users, where the scale would brick itself from what is clearly a software issue due to an update they pushed out.  The only response was that the scales were out of warranty.
I'm finished buying products that have a 1-year lifespan.
