Fitbit Update: 9/12/19

Hey all!

We're still investigating and working on a fix for this text notification issue on Android.

In addition to not receiving the correct text notification, we're now aware this is also affecting call notifications. Some of you may only see a previous caller's name and not the person actually calling you at the time you're receiving the notification.

When we have more information for a fix, we'll announce it here in this thread. Please stay tuned for updates!

Fitbit Update: 7/30/19

Hi everyone.

We're aware of these issues with receiving only the sender's name from your text messages. This appears to have started with the Fitbit for Android app version 3.0. If you're experiencing this yourself with your Fitbit device, please know we're working on a fix.

While our team investigates this further, we just ask for your patience. Once I have information for a fix, I'll make an announcement here on this thread.

I agree with you. After this, no more FitBits!!! They dont care!

Keeping it up to date is what caused the problem!

Its all good. I threw my Fitbit in the trash and went with Apple. I have
told many of my friends not to get the Fitbit because of this issue. Poor
service on such a simple device equals a big no

This makes me sad that Fitbit is letting this go on. Multiple fitbits in my family and will not be purchasing anymore.  Santa will need to find a new brand for those in my family who have asked for one this Christmas☹️

Best Answer

Agreed! You would think Fitbit would be on this ongoing problem!!

Best Answer
Just received an update of the app, no solution to our problem.

Again. They don't care about this closed forum. Make a review on the google play store.

You can also get some response or can make more pressure going to @fitbitsupport on twitter.

Keep the public pressure on.

I also don't get text notifications. I do get call notifications.I have tried so many de- and re- pairings, also deleting the app, also turning notifications off, then on, etc. etc.

Please help.

Installed the app Fit Notifications, it's free, and consider buying another
brand of fitness tracker.

Please help, this is my second versa lite and it now doesn't receive text notifications. I am very upset that this happened again. I paid $150 for this and it now doesn't do one of the main things I wanted it to do

@Thcle you're out of luck unfortunately. Fitbit has known about this issue for months and hasn't wanted to fix it. (even though the community found a fix months ago). Replacing the device with another Fitbit branded one will not fix the issue. There are other brands with other apps that work as designed still. Xiaomi is one I've heard lots of good things about, and their developer team is pretty good at fixing issues.

That sucks. I can't believe that they cannot fix it. Well it looks like I'll never buy one of these again. Thank you for the feedback and recommendation.

Best Answer
@Thcle they can fix it because the community found the fix almost immediately, but they just don't want to for some reason which makes it worse from a consumer standpoint. It's unfortunate but hopefully some other reputable brands will get some boost in consumers from this

What is the fix that the community found? Is it something I can do?

Either go back to an older version (2.95) of the Fitbit app or install third party app Fitbit Notifications. Instructions for both those options can be found in previous posts on this thread.

It's pretty easy.

You need to find and download a copy of the v2.90 installer for the app. (There's a ton of great websites but this forum won't let me share them. ) (A. P. K. Mirror is a good one)
Sync your Fitbit, uninstall the app, and then install the v2.90 one you downloaded to your phone. (There's a few good guides online showing how to do it. I'll see if I can find one on YouTube, just let me know what phone you have)
V2.90 does not have sleep scores and a couple other features but it does actually work. Google gives Fitbit a button to re-send an older version but they aren't doing it for some reason.

Let me know if you need more help. Glad to fix any issues people run into.

The other solution that has less success but seems to work for some (myself included) is to install an app called Fit Notifications which somehow fixes whatever Fitbit broke and sends them to the phone properly.

Its still broken. No fix

Try the app Fit Notifications. It works very well. And when your fitbit
watch is used, buy another brand. Fitbit will be greatful, for another one
they do not have to worry about 😉
