Fitbit Update: 9/12/19

Hey all!

We're still investigating and working on a fix for this text notification issue on Android.

In addition to not receiving the correct text notification, we're now aware this is also affecting call notifications. Some of you may only see a previous caller's name and not the person actually calling you at the time you're receiving the notification.

When we have more information for a fix, we'll announce it here in this thread. Please stay tuned for updates!

Fitbit Update: 7/30/19

Hi everyone.

We're aware of these issues with receiving only the sender's name from your text messages. This appears to have started with the Fitbit for Android app version 3.0. If you're experiencing this yourself with your Fitbit device, please know we're working on a fix.

While our team investigates this further, we just ask for your patience. Once I have information for a fix, I'll make an announcement here on this thread.

The problem is anybody that has an Android phone are not getting the right notifications so it's anything with Android phones everybody's having problem with their Fitbit it's terrible

I WAS having this problem, where only the text sender's name showed. However, in the last couple of weeks it has worsened to not notifying me of texts at all. I am still notified of incoming calls, so I know the notifications are turned on. Have tried the previously suggested re-starts, checking options, updates, etc. Using Android Samsung Galaxy 9 on Android version 9.

Mine started working again. I'm not exactly sure what cured the problem, but after awhile the Fitbit wouldn't even display the sender's name or number. It didn't make notifications at all.

Basically, I went into the Fitbit app settings and turned notifications off, then on again. Then I turned off the Always Connected and whatever the Always Sync option is. Then I turned back on only the Always Connected option. Then I put the Fitbit in its charger, reset it 3 times, let it charge and then when I put the Fitbit back on, I started getting notifications, both the sender's info and the message.

I received an update on the fitbit app and now I do not receive text
notifications. This happened to me in June as well. Same way

Charge 3 was working fine until about 2 weeks ago. Tried all suggestions and still not working. Calls work fine. Not texts. Only reason I bought it. Need to see texts quietly while teaching but keep phone quiet.

I thought this was only a problem with the older trackers.  I'm sad to hear that Versa and Charge 3 owners are also having these problems.  I'm still using an older version of the fitbit app (2.95) and it still works without a problem.  It's just crazy they have a working older version but can't figure out whats wrong with the newer version.

As I have said a few times before, they do not care. For all I know they
are not even looking into the problem.
They are looking for a buyer. I only hope that this buyer knows what he is
buying.
If you want my advise, go for another brand of tracker. Fitbit is end of
story.

Supposedly release 3.7 for android 7+ fixed this issue, but it does not appear in the playstore. It was supposed to be released today.

Sorry to be so dumb - but how do I get back to the 2.95 app. I will try
anything to get my Fitbit to work again. I have a Charge 2 that is only a
year old trying to talk to my Android 9 phone.

@LFH refer back to message number 558 in this thread by pizzaboy192. It contains instructions of how to go backwards.

If you look back through some of the earlier posts of this topic some members have detailed instructions on how to "downgrade".  Basically you have to uninstall your fitbit app, download the older version from a third party site and then install that version on your phone. Then disable updates on the playstore for that app.  I was a little skeptical when I did it but Im glad I did!

Most people seem to be happy with version 2.95, others have found 2.9 works better for them.

Any recommendations as to what third party site to use - I am not very tech
savvy 🙃

Fitbit wont let us type the file name. Amber Pluto Kite. Google the 3 first letters of those words, plus the word mirror and 2.95.  That should get you to the site most of us have used.

Still showing 3.6 here in the US. Sometimes it takes Google Play a while to show new releases though. Hopefully by tomorrow.
