The new layout and colour is awful. I’m okay with changes and updates, but give me some energy and vibrancy.

The new fitbit app is unbelievably bad. Very disappointed. This is 2023 yet the new version looks like something dreamed up during the long ago MS DOS era. I like to record my cycling rides using the app, but now the gps maps are gone and I can't even get a max heart rate reading for my rides.  If this is a sign of what Fitbit considered new technology, then I won't be purchasing any more fitbit products.  Tonight I switch to another cycling / exercise app. Goodbye fitbit!

Thank you, whiskeytango!  This is a total fail.

Hello Fitbit Executives!

You have read and been following this thread this weekend. I count  over 600 negative replies ( some of which you have deleted) and ZERO favorable replies to your recent "upgrade." which has been unanimously been determined by your users as  FAIL.

You have seen many users bail and already purchase a non-Google device.  You still have some users waiting to see it you will do as we ask and .go back to version 3.9.

I hope by reading all of these replied you understand how we use the features that we love, and you deleted,  to keep us motivated in our fitness journey.

I hope and pray, that on Monday morning, you review this abysmal version and be a company that listens to their users and tries to make your app something to be proud of.

If not. you will loose many more users who will likely make sure that this major business fail makes it to the national news

Please to the right thing and revert to version 3.9

Thanks

well said!

"shows 'battery full' not the percentage, which in my case was 88% (after lots of scrolling to find it). It was not full." exactly, - babyfied by Google for nearly every SW they are doing, now the screwed Fitbit with the same approach.

Exactly! I have saved over 300 myself. Not one is in favor of the new Google UI. Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Sorry but this new version is TERRIBLE!

The previous version gave a nice positive indication when you went over your goals. Now it just wraps around. Clicking on the goal used to give you the history going back. Now you have to specify each week to see the daily steps week to week. This is unacceptable. Can I go back to the previous version? I'm beginning to wonder if I need another brand of Fitness tracker now as you have made my Fitbit totally unacceptable.

Hate it. Would like to have the option to switch back.

How do I go back to the old version of the app? When I opened it before I could immediately see how many calories I burned, steps I took, etc., and now I have to hunt down all the things I'm trying to look up separately. Is there even a way to customize the layout? If not, why the hell did you guys waste a bunch of time and money "improving" the app? If it's not broke don't fix it.

The new display is terrible! I came looking for a solution to what I thought could only be a fault with my app as it looks so bad, so basic. It also looks like it has been designed by someone with extremely poor eyesight! How did Fitbit get this so wrong? I've seen the level of dissatisfaction and massive number of complaints on the forums so I assume you will be reverting to the previous display very soon, or you will be losing customers. I had already been disappointed with the watch models available. Please sort this out quickly

Just to add - I also hate the new design. Don't feel that the visual redesign added value but rather decreased it. Important stats (at least for me important) have been removed or are more difficult to access. Instead of spending lots of time on a fancy redesign that nobody seems to particularly care for, it would have been great to support users better in various ways they may be using Fitbit. To give an example: For me, the most important stat is calorie burn. I like to easily see whether I reach my daily calorie burn goal and like to challenge myself to burn more one month vs. the previous month or maybe the same month in previous years. I want to be able to create better challenges around that stat and have the app be able to help me track my challenges better. The only stat that I get now is the average of my monthly calorie burn when comparing my performances across several months which is super dissatisfying. I want more flexibility! The stats are there - when I click on individual months there is a tiny font text telling me on how many days in that month I hit my goal and what my total calorie burn that month was, but... it's so hidden! It makes it so difficult for quick comparisons and to keep up my motivation.

While on a roll here... I'd like some motivational boosters earlier in the day to keep me on track to achieve my calorie burn goal that day.

Also, while the health stats (e.g., breathing rate) are nice and all... what do they mean? Is it good? Is it bad? Why not have some integration on ranges from Mayo Clinic or something. If I need to get out of the app and online search terms, I feel it beats the flow and usefulness of the app. In addition, the new design makes the graphs look blurry and they aren't interactive. Instead of being able to tap into them to quickly compare several weeks or months, I only see the value for the last 7 days. Otherwise, you need to tap into each past week individually and then half of my screen is just taken up by a disclaimer that this isn't mean for medical purposes. Yikes... terrible.

Last time I was here on the 29th, there were 11 pages of complaints. Up to 32 pages now early on Oct. 2nd. And this is just one sub-form. I wonder if anyone has gotten a clue yet.

For Each known complaint, there are ~1000 that didn't respond (but probably will with their pocketbook), or at least that's the formula that our government representatives use to figure out if they went too far or not.

Are we there yet?

Expected the new app for fitbit android to be an improvement on the old app. Looks disappointing. The battery level percentage is missing. The cumulative distance walked in the previous months and years are not traceable.

It doesn't make sense to implement changes in the app in piecemeal basis. The new version of the app needs a complete revision and it is better to reinstate the old version till the new app is mature enough for acceptance by the users.

Hope the Fitbit Team will look into the customer needs with empathy and do the needful.

Just did my first workout since the 'upgrade' (???), the max heart rate is missing?!

I've followed the instructions for customising, yes you can move sections up and down to change the order, but you can't hide things within each section, so there is too much info there. I can't get everything I want without a lot of scrolling. I want to see my sleep, today's activity, and heart rate all together like before. Can't see how to do that.

The overall look is as if it was designed when computers were first invented....surely Fitbit can do better than this!! Clunky and old fashioned.

I'm really interested to know how this was tested and who with, as I don't see any positive feedback at all?

Awful update.  How did the designers think this was better than the previous layout! Is there a way to go back to the old layout.

Exercise Shortcuts has an interesting problem. I had a set of favourites which this new version changed. Over the last few days it automatically selected Mountain Bike. So I went to the bit where you can manage activities and I found that Aerobics is missing and also when I deselected Mountain Bike it was not available any more, not on the list and not appearing when I typed it in the search.

But, in the Automatically Recognised activities there is Aerobics and Outdoor Bike, neither of which can be selected as a shortcut.

If you manually log an activity it looks like all the activities are available.

This new app is really bad. The steps (no pun intended) you have to tap to get to the activities settings is just madness. The settings are not even all setup in the same place. I have over 40 years I.T. experience and I find it very hard to think of anything as bad as this app and I can assure you that I've seen some rotten tomatoes over my years.

My amazfit arrived yesterday. While the app has some of the issues fitbit does I can at least see all things I want to see on the gadget screen. It has a lot more info than fit bit on the app itself is intuitive and looks good! Cheaper than a for bit too. Now I just need to work out how to subscribe from from fitbit messages because my phone is blowing up with unhappy fitbit customers. I feel their pain. Good luck to everyone who stays with fitbit. I hope they see sense and sort this mess out.

Do you even care if your customers are not happy???

Best Answer

From a visual perspective it's bland and uninteresting and one person I know in stridekick couldn't find where to send a message so used stridekick instead. The whole google exercise seems pointless. Why fix something that wasn't broken? To improve things? Well that just quite simply hasn't happened. Have not heard one single positive good thing about google fitbit. Not at all happy.

At some point, will our complaints and issues be acknowledged and addressed or are we just shouting into the void? Between complaints on here and your most recent reviews in the play store, people are clearly unhappy with this new design.

It's not helpful to your actual users, somebody has just made an arbitrary decision to change things "for the better" thinking they know best when actually, those of us who use the app, clearly feel otherwise and are trying to make our voices heard. Yet all we get are links to "how to make the best of the new app".

You've removed data, you've removed accessibility, you've removed customisation options and you've removed functionality.

How, HOW, is ANY of that an "improvement" we can "make the best of"?
