Hello everyone!
I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.
Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.
Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.
Happy stepping!
I find the new app looks more cluttered than the old and is much less intuitive. I find it extremely unhelpful in seeing my daily progress and comparing with recent weeks. I also dislike how the metrics have been fixed into groups, so if you want to see hourly activity and exercise days, they are displayed together and you are unable to change the positioning within the metric group. This makes it hard to personalize to order the metrics in a way more relevant to me. The older dashboard was much more ‘customer friendly’ in that respect.
I have been a loyal Fitbit customer for 5 years. I have read suppositions on the internet that Google is ‘running down’ Fitbit in order to force customers over to the Google Pixel watch. If I am forced to abandon the Fitbit platform, I am highly unlikely to move to Google Pixel, but will either sadly abandon activity trackers altogether, or move to Samsung to integrate more fully with my phone.
I am hopimg you actually listen to user feedback and dissatisfaction and revert to the previous iteration dashboard.
Am i the only one who absolutely hates the new dashboard?! 😣😣😣 i have had/used fitbit for several years, im so disappointed in the new update. It looks like it was switched to a simple version somehow. And lack of details on the map?! 🙄🤦🏻:female_sign:
@StillworkingI posted this elsewhere, but these Community forums are so disorganized that no one can find anything!
If you are an android user, go to You Tube and look for an instructional video: How to downgrade Fit bit App 4.0 to 3.85 Android. if you want an active link to the video, it is included in a post titled "Has anyone found a way to reinstall the old version of the app?" in the Fitbit.com Dashboard forum. The person who made this video used nwodotpu (spelled backward) to get a prior version, but rorrimKPA (spelled backward) I think is better. Both have versions going back years. Remember to turn off auto update for the app on the google play store!
Just google something like "Fitbit app download version 3.8" and you should be able to find a website to download from. I downloaded version 3.88 and it worked fine (i was blocked from posting the actual website name). Make sure to disable auto updates in Play Store app.
But beware, proceed with caution, some of these download sites can contain viruses or malware.
Reputable sites will give certificate fingerprints which you can use to verify that the version has not been altered or tampered with. Use a hash checker to verify after download.
I got the update and now the Coach videos won't load at all when I open them to play them. I've tried multiple videos and none will load. I uninstalled the app, reinstalled it, restarted my phone etc. They still will not load. It's just a black screen with a constant white loading circle.
Best AnswerSorry, but you are preaching to the fitbit users.
Personally, I kind of like the minimalist look
Best AnswerSo the new app looks insipid, sparse, with too much spread out info for the selected focus, meaning other important to you aspects are way down the screen. I do not seem to have the pull down sync option ( though my parter has???) to force a sync when it is being slow. And breathing rate and spo2 have not been recorded since the new app landed on my phone. Not impressed at all. I can imagine that for some users it will be difficult to read this washed out colour. It will make me think hard about what I replace my fitbit with when it packs up...and I have been loyal. A poor outcome, and I do not seem to be alone!
Hi @ProfScience - Many, myself included, have had the same question. If you are an Android user, go back one page (currently page 47) and see posts there, it might be helpful.
Thank you!
