Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

whenever you read this pathetic Google statement of "improving the Fitbit app" (instead of reverse course and openly admitting they screwed up) remember these are the same people who wrecked the Fitbit app in the first place so whenever you read this carefully formulated piece of crap, remember:

the people who are now saying "...'ll be adding battery percentage" those are the same people who removed the battery percentage from the app in the first place. The same people who celebrate themselves for such a genius strike of ingenuity of adding the battery percentage to the Fitbit app. The same people.

Also noticed the carefully crafted wording here? They didn't say "we will roll back..."  or "we bring back the battery percentage"  - no - because that would sound like a defeat on a open field for the Google UI design team. Hence the wording: "we'll be adding battery percentage" otherwise it would be too embarrassing for Google...

It seems this is nowadays a pre-condition to make a career at Google: remove some solid and long existing features, sit out a 5 weeks sh***storm from the user base and then bring back the same feature, celebrate yourself for your stunt publicly and ask your boss for a pay raise because your hard earned achievements in adding tireless features you removed by yourself in the first place.

@bkeller "a new icon showing a phone and watch. Click that and you can get to see the charge level" not it's not showing you a battery percentaeg level as before, they simply decided to remove this. What you see today buried two levels deep is a ill coloured icon with three indications low/medium and fully charge there fully charged in Google terms could mean anything from 72% to 100% - utterly nonsense

Yay! Just updated from v4.1 to v4.2.1

Boo! No bug fixes. Useless UI/UX. Dreadful colour palette.

What is this, Groundhog Day???

Best Answer
It's not groundhog day, just Google screwing it up,like they've done with their browser. Browser looks just like the app now, with limited options to modify the look and feel. Nice job google!

Hello @EB1354 and welcome to the Community.  Do you use an Android or iPhone?  Issues like yours are often specific to one platform.  You post can get moved to a better fit forum, where you might get more help.

And utterly useless. Hmm will all our disparaging remarks be removed now?
Yes i am angry that i wasted money on a new charge 5 and it has become both
irrelevant to a company and now they wont fix it as they should. The UI
designers have either no experience or were hired to destroy the brand.

I just received an email from Fitbit stating "We’d love your feedback!" ...however the link leads to a BAD REQUEST 400 page.

Is there anything more emblematic of the current disaster?

@TBadbeer  I have the Google Fit app on my phone and maybe from a design standpoint the apps dreariness looks the same but Google Fit is terrible.  If that is where the Fitbit app is headed, I will be glad that I will have moved on by then.

I do not like that I can't look at the same graphs as before. This should be app format should be optional.

I don't really care about colour, the app version I have reverted back to, and the one I used before, has a large circle with active zone minutes and the text goes in that, underneath that are 4 smaller circles that have Steps, Floors, Miles and Cals, beneath that and all visible on the same screen is a line with heart rate and underneath that another one to track the 250 steps an hour activity - most times I check the app that's all the info I want to see, if I want to scroll down there is Stress, Sleep etc. If I want more info on the things I am interested in just tapping one of the visible things brings up more info on it. Charge level shows as a percentage across the top when syncing. Looks like there are a lot out there with GPS for less than 3 figures.

There appears to be an issue with the accuracy of data.

my mother has an oxymeter showing heart rate and o2 this is accurate as it’s been tested against the results obtained when she was in hospital. At the same time the precious Fitbit app was also accurate as we checked against her hospital results. But this new app is not accurate at all against the oxymeter therefore the heart zone mins are not accurate.
this is a trust and confidence issue now.

This new update is soulless and makes me want to get a garmin

Best Answer

I agree, the worst is how my bike ride workouts don't give the details they used to give for each zone. Fortunately the web version still shows the same thing. If it wasn't for that I might just switch to Garmin .

So just got back from a 2.6 mile walk. Looking at the info in the app about the walk, it was telling me that the mileage was 32% of my goal miles. My goal mileage is 5 miles. Granted, it's been a few years since my last math class, but 2.6 is over 50% of 5. So your app's math ain't mathing. But then you guys don't seem to care what us users think so my Luxe will be replace with a tracker from someone else & it won't be from your parent company.

@Kaibab1959

The newest app version is actually 4.2.1. It doesn't look like any of the glaring mistakes or omissions in the app were corrected.
