Well fitbit has just gone nuts. I've done 870 steps but over 220 active minutes sat at my desk. How I've done a cardio workout sat at my desk is beyond me!!!!!

The new app is a disaster!

Well, the time has come to say Good-Bye to Fitbit Google. Thanks to an attractive discount I have just purchased a device from another manufacturer. I started my Fitbit journey with a model One in 2012 and progressed to a Charge 4 and then a Charge 5. Had this latest storm of problems with the App, firmware, exit from countries, downgrading of features and total disrespect to the customer not have happened, then I would still be a loyal user. But loyalty works two-ways, it is a two-edged sword that cuts both ways.

I shall pop-in to this community on occasion to see if there has been a u-turn or a mass exodus. Best wishes to all who share these tribulations.

@Widdershins well done!  @google: trust is earned in drops and lost in buckets. You will soon notice this then your business (advertisement) is considered toxic because it's named google

I have given up trying to log food still takes ages to sync on Bluetooth. I'm losing interest in my Fitbit whats the point in only being able to use part of an app. Come on Fitbit get your act together

This is not an "update" but a removel of inportant information from the main app page. By that I mean the percentage status of the battery icon. This is important becaues when charging the sence what you have replaced the status bar with is nonsensical. Just saying " Low Medium Full" is no help to gauge if it is fast or slow charging. Please reinstate the old Battery status percentage icon

I cannot express enough how much I truly detest the new app. It is a million times worse than the version from 2 years ago. I joined Fitbit in 2016 and have been a loyal customer. Every year Fitbit would add improvements to the app and new features which I really liked. In the last year they removed many features and made it much worse and less user friendly. For example, before you could click on a work out and see all of your stats like max heart rate, average heart rate, amount of minutes in different HR zones. Now all of those features are gone- why???? Why would you remove features that the whole community loves and make the app worse?? I used to love viewing those stats. I just don’t get why they are purposefully removing useful features. Do you want to lose customers? Are you purposefully trying to tank the product? Please tell me you have some type of reasonable explanation other than shear stupidity. Unless the app restores these features soon, I will 100% be switching to a different health tracking device (aura ring, Apple Watch, etc.). Please do better.

Not to mention the new color scheme is so bland? Colors are useful for quickly distinguishing difference HR zones, etc. Why did you make everything gray?

Basically Google have shown themselves to be a big pile of dung and I will never buy another product that has anything to do with them after they have show how little they care for their customers. It cannot be overstate just how carp they are.

Has anyone noticed you can't go in and log food for yesterday? I don't
often miss a day but when I did I was able to go back and log it. Now I
can't.

This update is a disaster

After logging my food everyday for 9 months, I stopped, because the new app colour scheme and layout actually makes me nauseous. I physically get a sick gut feeling every time I open it, as though I can see the "evil" intent Google is perpetrating against their customers who bought a Fitbit product originally designed to improve health, fitness, and well-being. The Google corporation needs an accountability "check-up."

This is aweful

One hundred percent agree!  I bought my husband one specifically to monitor his heart rate (as well as average and maximum rate) during exercise. He has heart failure and tracking is very important. If this feature isn’t put back quickly, I will be going elsewhere for both his and my own.

Adding my voice to the chorus.  I too am looking for a different solution and will not renew Premium.  This update would be tolerable (if unwanted) at the top level ifnit weren't accompanied by the removal and suppression of information on sleep data charts and exercise heart rate profile, to name a couple, that I depended on.  The change in heart rate zone display for exercise is particularly awful.

The app is awful to look at, and is somehow programmed to ignore Deep Sleep mode, and every other battery optimization mode, all so it can use Optimizely to send tens of thousands of requests back to the Google servers, trying to send your personal info. Just look at this:  From the DuckDuckGo app that has the service  called Tracking Protection, that runs in the background of your phone.

Some examples:

108 tracking attempts from Evernote

9 tracking attempts from ESPN

9 tracking attempts from Netflix

41 tracking attempts from Patreon

31,456 (!!!) tracking attempts in the past 24 hours from Fitbit

31k! It is sending these tracking attempts second after second, and I think is likely what is responsible for the rapid drain of my phone battery. 25% of the battery's charge has drained solely from the Fitbit app, when I am not opening Fitbit and have every setting possible to limit background data usage, battery usage, GPS off, app deep sleeping, everything is restricted attached to the Fitbit app. Yet it still drains the battery like crazy.

I think it is these Optimizely tracking attempts trying to send your data back to Fitbit/Google servers every second of the day that is the culprit.

Very longtime loyal Fitbit customer for over 10 years. I think I'm done with Fitbit. The app itself is so bad I can't look at it, I don't open it or want to look at it anymore because they ruined a good design; looks awful now. Basically Google has done everything they can to ruin Fitbit goodwill with its loyal customers. Sad state of affairs.

How can this app IGNORE deep sleep mode? It says that the Fitbit app has been running 14 hours in the background in the past 24 hours when I specifically have settings that are supposed to restrict that? Google is able to program around it, how and why? So done with Fitbit.

Okay folks. You certainly have enough feedback. Almost ALL of it is negative, so when are you going listen and go back to what you had?

Best Answer

Agree. I track my runs with it but in the new app the map no longer displays the km points along your run which is useful for planning your runs to know where those are. Also if you forget to switch from the default before you start tracking, there is now no way to edit your exercise to change it from being recorded as a walk. Why? Just why remove features?

So Lizzy, still not looking great is it? I notice that some of the tech sites have picked up on the fact this isn't going very well for Fitbit / Google

Fitbit fans aren’t happy about the official app’s redesign – here’s why | TechRadar

Tbh, when probably the most universally despised media outlet in the UK, The Sun, is reporting it's not good, then you know you are sailing troubled water

Fitbit owners HATE major app shake-up and demand it be switched back immediately | The Sun

Come on, stop closing your eyes, putting your fingers in your ears, singing "la la la la I can't hear you" and admit you've got it wrong. Then do something about it.
